they have adhesive on the back of them, they’re essentially stickers. peel off the wax paper and stick em on.
i hate those things and they are a last resort. ill put them in the holder with shims and whatever i can find to hold them in long before sticking them to the trailer. -
You are overthinking all of this, no one cares until it is hooked to a truck. Then it is the drivers problem to make sure it is placard with the right ones.
No regulations that cover the issue, even if it was loaded and parked in the corner with the wrong placards.
The state has a limited amount of power to do anything about under dot regs, but fire laws are different.AM14, Just passing by and JReding Thank this. -
I was informed by a friend who's a trainer of the same thing: a fire marshal wouldn't be too happy about it, but otherwise nothing specific in the regs, as you said.
-
I’ve never had one of those stay in the holder.AM14 Thanks this.

My company supplied all of the drivers with placard sized plexiglas sheets to put over the placards. Never had another problem with them. Even collected some more as some guys forget to take the plexis off when they drop the trailer.

Now that idea would certainly work, but we never had those.
-
I did that for a while but they scratched and fogged too easily becoming almost useless. What I do now is keep a random stack of thick, glossy placards and just peel and stick the crummy sticker placards on top.
While we're on the subject.. with all of the regulations we have to deal with for HM, it boggles my mind that it is even legal for shippers to supply us those worthless decal placards or even the super thin paper ones. One gray cloud in the sky, and we are already destined for failure.
Arts & Crafts lesson with one of my trainees.
