That’s a complicated mess. Boeing proposed the Super Hornet for the CF188 replacement. That’s the aircraft that makes the most sense for us. But Boeings pissing match with Bombardier over civilian aircraft, and Bombardier influence on Oddawa shut Boeing out of the competition for nothing more than spite. It’s not like they have a competitive alternative. Now we’re ####ed. Due to land mass and mission, our operational requirements are pretty much the same as carrier aircraft. Who thought a single engine aircraft was a good idea for the high arctic? We need an Interceptor/Air Superiority platform, not a Multi-Role. The F35 isn’t it for us. The Super Hornet checks all the boxes, even air-ground capability as much as that matters to us, but it’s not going to happen. Just another multi-billion dollar boondoggle from Oddawa as far as our needs go. Courtesy of a bunch of whiny Frenchmen as usual.
