You have to turn the steering wheels twice.
1: ) 1 turn to the left ( watch ur convex mirror pay attention until the money cone disappear or ur trailer starts to cover the money cone stop right away!)
2Turn ur steering wheel all the way to the right ( Look on ur left side once you see the money cone stop backing up! )
Do not get confuse. Hope that help!Xzay Thanks this. -
Only thing more confusing than backing threads is right turn threads.
Seriously, it's about practice. All these "formulas" are very confusing, but they're also virtually useless in the real world. You won't have cones or a "backing range" after school. Practice, and figure out how you're trailer reacts to your movements at the wheel, and you'll be golden.TROOPER to TRUCKER, tinytim, Xzay and 1 other person Thank this. -
Offset is not bad compared to alleydock. I was struggling so bad in 90 degres but made it and killed it with no point in my DMV test. All you have to do is keep practicing. You got this
-
Ok here's the offset formula:
Pull up out of whichever side until you get to the front line that you can't go over, keeping the truck straight
- do one full turn to the opposite of the space you're going to, example if you're backing into the space on the right do one full turn to the left.
- back until you hit the 45 degree angle, can see half the landing gear, middle of the V in the landing gear. Stop.
- turn the wheel all the way 3+ turns the other way.
- back until the truck and trailer are exactly straight. If you're lucky you'll be able to see the center cone in your mirror. Stop.
- turn the wheels back to straight, 2+ turns the other way. Now your tractor, trailer, and wheels should all be straight.
- back until the rear trailer tires are just about to that center cone, right before it.
- turn the wheel all the way the opposite of where you want the trailer to go, example if you're backing into the right space, at this point you'll want the trailer to go around the center cone and to the left, so turn all the way to the right.
- back until you see the trailer tires have gone into the box and the trailer seems to be going straight in, then quickly turn the wheel 4+ turns all the way the other way to get the tractor coming in front of the trailer.
- once you see both sides out both mirrors and you're in the box, it's just a straight back in the rest of the way.Xzay Thanks this. -
Hmm. How to know if your tires are straight: I generally stick my head out of the window and look at them if I'm not sure.
As far as everything else, in training my advice would be not to focus on a formula for getting it perfectly. Instead, make an attempt at backing up and remember what you did. Then make a note of what didn't work and try something different next time. See what happens. I understand that in a school there's great pressure to finish your turn so someone else can go, but don't get out of that truck and give up the time if you get frustrated.
And to leave you a happy note on that training, here's some real world backing for ya!Attached Files:

Heck we use toy guns in Krav Maga when disarming each other. Leave the actual weapon in the holster out of the way and off tac bay.
Heck, sometimes women need a toy to understand the sitaution as it pertains to certain life discoveries He he he he... -
