Who could really believe that all the loads to the Northeast are booked from a market where the ratio is 4.6/one truck. And if the rate going in to Northeast is not paying close to $3/mile then no one is making any money, because coming out of Northeast usually does not pay any good rate. Now to run a trucking company you have to pay $5k--$8k insurance per year and then the registration about $2200, Highway Use tax IFTA and tons of other expenses. Tires ($3000/year), Batteries and petroleum products etc are cheap either. (Today's average Diesel price is $3.85/gal if your truck averages about 5.5 mile/gal then fuel cost for you is $0.7/mile) It comes out about $1.53/mile for some one like me where I do not drive a very expensive truck and payment is not that much. So you have to be able to gross average of $2/mile or better and if you run into Northeast where the tolls are about 15--20 cent per mile, then you must be making at least $2.25/mile average to say that company is running in profit. But anyway I came this way for close to $1.25/mile. But have not been able to book a load back up to Northeast for close to $3/mile. Talking to other O/Os I know that they are staying in the average of $2.35/mile if the run the Northeast. I have no clue as why all the loads dry up in any of the markets I go to. Charlotte, Memphis, Columbus, Atlanta and so on. You name it and I have sat in that market for at least 2 to 4 days for booking a load for a nominal rate of $2.5/mile. Which is really ridiculous, but here we go again I am running empty out of here Columbia, Charlotte and Charleston markets and not be able to book a load for a rate close to $3/mile. And that's not what I want, but that's what I have to have to stay in profit. I know that the other Carriers are telling me that they always run out of here for about $4/mile to the northeast (I know that for a fact, I have seen documentation. Any way including Monday makes it 8th day in this market. I have no good wishes for the area where I did not get any share and I do not wish any thing good for it either.
Ended up running Empty from the hot spot of Columbia and Charlotte

Consider Atlanta area back to Yankee land ? Usually good N.E. loads from there, and usually freight from Carolinas to Big A.
-
Both NC & SC are dried up for loads this week , what are you pulling ? Virgina and Georgia are not too bad
-
hey, you used to have another user name didn't you, is the unseen forces and mafia still keeping you from loads?

Freight rates have been absolutely horrible anywhere right now. I read an article back in Jan 2013 that 2013 was going to be a "NAME YOUR OWN RATE YEAR." It has been a FEW years since I have been able to NAME MY OWN RATE and it DARN sure ISNT going to happen this year. I expected this year to be pretty good but I am fighting with rates also. It is slowly getting better though. The problem I have is I had better years in 2011 and 2012 then I am forecasting this year.
