I remember one acid loading. 5gallon jug shows up on the line, a hose goes into it acid trickles into it filling while splasing here and there. Hey watch my #### boots. Oh &*^% what is this on this #### floor?

They owe me a pair of boots. But no way no how. And that splashing? *Shudders. total corrosive. Combat pay for me please. Course that did not happen. I never forgot that one. What got me was they put spikes under the pallets so they stay put if I stopped her hard. Jiggling jugs.

That one got delivered perfect no splash. Now they advertise no splash bleach. Maybe that would be best.

No way would I have hauled that no matter what the pay was. They're going to either fully secure it or find someone else to haul it.

I'm not saying truckers don't have clearances. I acknowledge that some truckers may NEED clearances.

The OP asked if he should GET his clearance. They don't just GIVE those out. You have to have a NEED for one, as you are well aware.

Now, I didn't see the vid the OP referred to. I'm guessing an o/o mentioned clearance required for certain loads he hauls.

I'm saying that most drivers hauling such loads keep their mouth shut about it. It's a SECRET.

The guy at the coffee counter bragging about his super secret DOD loads with US Marshals escort is either lying, or doesn't run those loads anymore because he can't keep a SECRET!

If you're going to Swift training, you have to test for all but passenger. That is one of the school requirements.
Friend of mine went through there a several years ago, even though I advised him to seek out a qualified and certified independent truck scool.
But like so many, the financing was an issue.
When he tested, he had to test for all of them.
He recently renewed his license and dropped the HZmat, triples, and tanker.
Kept the doubles, because he occasionally has to pull them.
It's good to have them the first time around. Gives you a better chance to try a variety of positions to find your niche.
What one trucker may like another may not.
You might like tanker, but another might like flat bed and so on.
Once you decide which type of trucking you are best fitted for, give it you all, learn everything you can and it will reward you.

Ive handled a few escorted uncle sam loads and believe you me, you know absolutely nothing. The best you learn is the weight maybe in the box on your blank Bill with just a 5 digit net weight and a 1 in the load count column. Literally a secret and carefully set up so you know nothing at all. Nice little brown sea can with just a serial on it so ships can follow it on paper for uncle sam.

Ive used to have nightmares about aliens coming out of the box at night to play. It was enough to get out of that container work back then. Besides I enjoy my freedom. What there is or was of it.

Edit. When I say you know nothing, I meant myself as a driver with such a load holding a BOL with just a 1 and weight. If there is a weight put on. Not trying to pick a fight.
