Just finished a short course to prepare for CDL skills test. It was a high quality course & I now have a fresh CDL A in my wallet. I don't anticipate a problem with obtaining any endorsement, or a quick pass thru customs. I do not want to waste time (or money) on endorsements that might never be used, depending on where I get hired. Am I making a mistake??
I do not want to un-necessarily limit my options, and assume that the appropriate endorsement can be acquired during hiring process and/or orientation .
    Help!

Passenger needs another driving test with a passenger vehicle, at least a small bus. Haz-mat takes a background check and fingerprinting, and takes a period of time, the others are simply multiple guess tests, which both hazardous and passenger also require.

I think you have to have your actual Social Security Card in your possession to test at the DMV. Any test.

For your tanker and doubles all you gotta do is take an extra test and for Hazmat get your backround check from TSA then take that test, probably 90.00 but I think they are well worth it when hunting for a job, many companies wont hire you without them and even though you might hire on with a company that wants a Hazmat endorsement, it dont mean you will haul hazmat loads all the time. I think by not having your endorsements you are limiting yourself when it comes to job searching.

i agree just take all the endorsements they are easy .if you can picture the way coke sloshes around in a bottle when you move it around you can pass tankers without really studying it.

tankers and doubles / triples didnt cost me anything, but it might if they have to reprint your license. theyre both relatively easy, more to make sure that you have the potenetial to learn how to drive them, than to qualify you. tankers was 20 (miss 4 and youre done) questions, doubles and triples was 25 (miss 5 and youre done).

hazmats good to have like they said, just cause you have it, doesnt mean youll be hauling it. Exactly what the Crete recruiter told us, and you'd be surprised at how few cases of hairspray on a wal-mart truck it takes for you to have a placarded load.
