There should be an engine serial number, that should not change with a rebuild bc it shows what parts go in it. It would tell what the CPL is. They can not change engine serial number just bc it was rebuilt. Call Freightliner or Detroit and give them the engine serial number, they can tell you what year it was made.

On a side note, with them making changes to the ELD rule like this before implementation, it's one of the threads that is starting to get pulled to unravel the whole darn thing. Cattle haulers are exempt, and other parts of the industry are applying for exemptions as well. I think they are realizing the true cost of what this will do to the industry. Follow the money trail. This is just my opinion

Thanks for the replies. I'll check with the Freightliner dealer tomorrow.
My son-in-law has a 2001 with a series 60 Detroit with 98 emissions engine. Engine manufacture date on it is April 2000. He just missed it by four months.
Guess I'll find out tomorrow about mine. It's in a 2016 Coronado glider.

Someone mentioned on another forum that the castings of the block can be dated on DDs I don't know how true that is but it is plausible.

Livestock haulers are only exempt from the 30 minute break, they are not exempt from the eld mandate.

Engine serial number will be stamped on the block under the intake on a Detroit. Starts with 06r. If it's less than 06r550xxx it's going to be made in 99 as mine was installed 11/99. I'd highly suggest you spend the couple hundred bucks at a Detroit dealer and have the decals ordered for your engine.
