I have a 95 379 with a 3406 E cat. The truck ran fine on friday, come inmonday to crank it up and it dies after about 3 minutes. It will crank right back up no problem, run for about 3-5 min and shut down. Its not starving for fuel, no check engine light. If i run up tge rpms it will run alittle longer. All battery connections are tight. Anybody have a clue as to what might be causing this?
Engine dies then starts right back up

I'm not a Cat expert, but I'm gonna give this a shot. The way you describe it, it doesn't sound like a fuel problem to me. You did say it's an E model, right? I'd be chasing whatever wiring goes from the battery to the ECM. Make sure those connections are clean and tight.
Also, I'm assuming it has a crank position sensor or something similar. Might check that and it's wiring. Fuel solenoid and wiring as well. -
Just an idea, maybe check the coolant level?

Pulling on the wire harness lightly back and forth might reveal a wiring problem. I have also heard the fuel primer on top of the fuel housing can cause problems. There's two valves inside that can loosen up and flip causing a stall/start repeat situation.

I did notice a small fuel leak around the bottom of the primer pump where the gasket is. I tightend up the 2 bolts and the leak was gone.

Like K2 said CK. the 2 sensors on L. side of eng. under or near air comp. with omh. tester when they fail no codes but eng. wont run?

Will do. Thanls!

Problem solved! It was the coolant level sensor. I remember a company I used to work at had the same issue. I unplugged mine and no more stalling. The thing is Peterbilt wants $185.00 for the sensor! Thanks everyone for the replies! Mash on it driver!

I had the same problem on one of my Pete's, my driver complained about it and he said he just kept restarting it every morning and eventually it would stop shutting down. It took me two seconds to figure out it was just a little low on coolant and he kept restarting it like this every morning for over a month until it would warm up enough for the coolant level to rise. I couldn't believe it. starters still going though atleast.
