Sorry to hear that my friend. That is really chitty.
Yep . Good example of a warranty.
Everybody brags about giving a warranty, Everybody brags about getting a warranty , and everybody sells a truck with a warranty.
They are all worth Nothing , Notta, ####
find a reputable shop with someone who takes pride in their work and and gives you a handshake and their word that you will be happy with the outcome. I know far and few between

Yup, it's an expensive lesson to learn, but a valuable one.
Looks like Monday I'll be going down with the bosses truck and a trailer to load up my truck and hall it back to our shop. Then we will start working on her. I'm going with a platinum kit and I'll be replacing a few other things while we're at it.
My list so far:
1) Engine mount bushings
2)oil cooler
3)radiator
4)fuel pump and power steering pump gaskets
5)CAC (maybe)
Anything else that you guys think should be in the list? -
How many miles on engine? Maybe change out the vibration dampner while you have the radiator out?

553k
That's a good point. Thanks SAR. -
I when mine was platinum'd I had them replace the leaky stock manifold with PDI manifold. All rubber/flexible fuel lines between the tanks and the head were replaced with new - around the 10 year mark these can swell on the inside restricting flow. Replaced stock CAC and radiator with heavy duty Active CAC and 4 rows radiator. Oil cooler passed inspection so was not replaced but was warrantied. As someone else said replace the damper preferably with vibratech not CAT oem. Mine was before the inframe. Put a new front seal in. Motor mounts, why not? Mine had to be replaced after the inframe, they don't last forever. Edited - your motor mounts might be fine with 553k mine were at 1.2 million.

RC, I forgot about the fuel lines. I'll replace those as well. The damper I'll have to check prices on. The manifold, while it'd be nice to replace with a pdi, I have to consider my budget, and I think that will be a little over it at this point.
rollin coal Thanks this. -
Vibratech damper is about $550 shipped - I believe competitive with CAT OEM. That was replaced at 1,000,000 miles on mine. Yeah the aftermarket manifolds are expensive ($1,700 I think +/-)but you will never have watery red eyes, headache, and scratchy throat from leaking fumes into the cab again! Which is more than can be said of a stock manifold... Yeah stock can be patched up but they never last.... I had everything done while they were doing it - it's much better that way and be done with it than to second guess yourself later on wishing that you had. I know it sucks because it's so pricey tho.

That's always the battle isn't it? I always want it done right the first time, but money normally forces you to choose the lesser of two evils.
Maybe I'll drop a few bucks on the power ball and win the 420 million jackpot. Then the sky's the limit. Haha -
What did cat say about the crappy cutting job on the block..?
-
They never said anything about it. I think they are taking the "plausible deniability" option
