Hey guys, got another challenge here. Engine threw a belt and broke Engine Fan Air Line fitting inside fan clutch. My options are drive with fan “On” continuously, or grab a load home and fix it. Anyone know how badly it will hurt my MPG to drive with fan on continuously?

As always thanks for your responses.

No problem, just roll with it. I mean obviously you want to get it fixed sooner than later but I bet you won’t notice the difference in fuel?

Oh great, I really wanted to stay out here with how good the rates are. I appreciate the response and will let know the numbers when I get through a tank. Thank you.

When I had my 3406E Cat the Cat dealer told me that the fan took 27 horsepower to run. Bound to use more fuel though how much, I wouldn't know

Just grab an easy out and spin it out. Easy peazy.

Yeah I’m definitely gonna try that, but not much space to work with. But you’re right, I think it can be done, hopefully easier than it looks. TY

27 horse sounds like a lot. We will see, leaving for Georgia to Arizona tomorrow, I’ll post some numbers if anyone is interested.

I've even used the square, tapered part of a round file to extract fittings in areas too tight to fit a regular easy out.

Interesting, you just gave me an idea. I have a file for a chainsaw chain in my box I could probably jam up in there and twist out. I dunno maybe just buy another cheap easy out set at Lowe’s. I’m gonna try it tomorrow. Thanks for the great idea!

If you have a 1/4" drive extension you may find it will fit backwards on the end of the easyout and you can turn it with a 1/4" wrench or a crescent wrench on the socket end. you can even tap it in with the extension attached
