I'd just installed Teltek Engine oil temp gauge on my 06' Coronado C-15/BXS..i install the temp sensor on the oil pan drain plug..but most of the time its reads under 100*F.only when the outside weather temp is reach to 75*F up then oil will get hot to 124*F.. Is it normal reading temp on CAT engine ? Oh i use Schaffer 7000 syn blend on my engine oil w/Gulf Coast Oil bypass..thanks in advance guy !

You have a problem with the gauge installation. Modern engines are oil cooled, the oil temp will be about 10F at least above the coolant temperature.

I think you are right, when I first read the OP I thought someone had installed an inline oil-cooler that was working especially well on lightly loaded engine but it seems we have a faulty gauge installation as crankcase oil should run above coolant temp by common sense

If the guage accuracy is verified, you might consider checking the oil cooler thermostat and oil cooler bypass operation.

Don't bet that on every engine...unless I'm using a belly tarp during the winter my oil temp is at least 50' cooler than the coolant temp on a Cat 6NZ.

Most of these sensors are the same in the diffs and tranys. Is it possible to maybe swap one out if they have the same plug, or find another one to test out?
