Depending on the engine model years they could possibly both meet the same EPA standards. The ISX would be EGR only and the CAT could possibly be an ACERT, or a single turbo MBN. An MBN swap would technically be breaking the rules.

That's what I don't get. I thought you couldn't modify the emissions on a motor. So if he took one out and put the other in....you wouldn't have modified either. You put both in as intended.

how much revenue do you loose doing regular maintenance? Or your 10 hour break? What about god forbid you have to do a 34 or run recaps and work part a day?

you can’t loose something you didn’t have to begin with, as a business owner you should have budgeted your money to be able to pay your bills while you have no income, $76 a day for me to be able to turn the key and as far as I’m concerned a truck sitting in the yard burns no fuel and wont strand you in the middle of no where

The devil you know is better then the one you don’t, unless you are going to wait 6 months for a new truck to come in,you don’t sell a used truck that you know for someone else’s problems,

If he does an engine transplant his truck will be down for as long as it takes to do the transplant .

I’d guess two or three weeks minimum, maybe more if he discovers he needs a harness or sensor that can’t be made in the shop and isn’t available due to the covid .

If it was the exact same
Engine it could be done in a week .

Transplanting a different type of engine is going to take much longer
