She runs! I went back a reprimed the fuel system. Took the return fuel line off and hand pumped 2 gal of fuel into a bucket, cranked it over a few times. ( starter was starting to smoke a little by now) Noticed some smoke from the RH side of the engine, cranked her over one more time and it lit up.
Thanks Les2, I can't believe it took that much priming to get the air out.
and Thanks Caterpillarwrench.

It took me a krapload of priming to get my engine fired up after overhauling it last week also. I ended up putting a new gear reduction starter on it since the old one was on its way out.

Pichu was trying to say the same thing but it wasn't coming out right...LOL. Glad you got it running!
If the truck ever gells up or runs dry you'll have to do the same thing.
And your welcome. -
Suggestion. Find the diagram tor the J5 plug entering the head, there are wires for the individul injectors. A test light will indicate if you are getting power to the injectors. If you are then it's simply a lack of fuel in the rail in the head. Cats love the word "PRIME". Another thought, remove the return line from the head & use the primer pump, eliminate the pressure relief, a lot easier to pump that way. If you get a bubble free flow then the problem is in the wiring. Jus' tryin'
