Engine type for new truck purchase? DD13, DD15, or DD16??

Mine has never glitched yet. If someone goes down a hill and don't touch the brakes or keep foot on the brakes it will go into neutral. As soon as someone touch the brakes it will go into gear. If someone never turns on the engine brake it will also go into neutral.

Mine has been trouble free so far with 320,000 miles on it. I'm really impressed with the Down Hill mode and the engine braking power at the higher RPMs. Now I can go down hill 1,200 to 2,200 RPM. Leting the computers crank up the RPMs to 2,200 RPMs take some getting use to.

Yes I hate the Georgia overdrive mode on it ,, sometimes it's good like coasting in heavy traffic... But mine glitches out in auto mode with cruise control going down hill when I first started driving it... It glitches out and threw me in neutral .. Ever since then I do not trust the computers on this thing, has happens randomly driving on interstate , will glitch out in 12th and drop to neautral sometimes it comes back sometimes I have to pull over to reset the stupid thing, it's about to hit 400,000 miles in a couple days , at the very least the stupid computers have taught me some new cuss words thats for sure

Here’s an unusual alternative: get a CNG engine. My company has several hundred CNG trucks, I’be been driving a 2014 Kenworth T-660 with a Cummins CNG engine for a couple of months. I kinda like it. It pulls just like a diesel, runs a lot cleaner, and there isn’t any need for DEF or any of that kind of stuff. Oh, and the price for fuel is consistently cheaper than diesel.

As far as I can see, the only negatives are that my range is shorter than a diesel truck, about 700 miles on a full tank, and CNG stations aren’t exactly thick on the ground, so I have to trip plan so that I won’t be caught short out of the range of a station. But they make an app for that!

My company truck has the DT-12 auto shift. It nice, it really nice going downhill. They have a special Downhill Mode most people don't seem to know about. It lets you lock the truck into a set speed limit like 40MPH and the engine and transmission will hold the speed. Most driver keep using the engine brake the old way and don let the computers and trasnmision do it thing. You can't use it in snow or ice because you not supposed to use engine brake then.

It works any speed down to 30 MPH your just setting the cruise control in a little different way to override the normal cruise control because it had window of like 6MPH over set speed before engine brake come on.

some of us don't like to put our lives in the hands of a 'computer'.. My dt12 glitches out all the time for no reason at all, I couldn't imagine giving it all the control going down a mountain, only for it to glitch out and throw me in neutral , which it has done before many times, I will never run it in auto mode going down a hill for that reason. To each their own but eventually one of these auto trucks is gonna have guys hitting runaway ramps for no reason other than a computer glitch
