Why so stubborn? Because I spent 6 years of my life in the 3rd Infantry Regiment. https://jtfncr.mdw.army.mil/oldguard/ DEFENDING peoples rights....
I pledged on my LIFE 3 times to defend the CONSTITUTION of the United States, against ALL enemies, foreign or DOMESTIC. The laws are in place to protect EVERYONES rights, not just a few. Regardless if I agree with them or not, it is (really) everyone duty to see to it that no ones rights are trampled on, I just seem to take that duty more seriously than others. I was a history minor in college. Those that are ignorant of history are doomed to repeat it. And whittling away peoples rights, piece by piece has been done SOOOOOooooo.... many times in the past, and it NEVER results in anything good in the long run. EVER.
Am I in favor of English being the national language? YES. There are provisions in the constitution for making it so. It has been attempted to make english the langue of the land several times in the past and ALWAYS failed. Change the law FIRST.
Am I in favor of drivers having to prove they can read and write english before getting your CDL, YES. IF IF IF english is the "national language" (which it isnt). Do I want to wait an hour at EVERY chicken house on the road to PROVE I can read? Hell no. When they get their CDL is the time and place, NOT OUT ON THE HIWAY.
There isnt a law in the land that says people need to be LITERATE. https://www.congress.gov/bill/102nd-congress/house-bill/751 - This is a law passed and signed by daddy Bush to set up training to reduce - REDUCE - illiteracy. In other words, the law says the GOVERNMENT is OBLIGATED to TEACH people. Thats the law. If there are drivers out there that dont understand street signs, then (according to the LAW) it is the GOVERNMENTS OBLIGATION to TEACH them...
That is the LAW.
Dont like it? Change it! Im right behind you. But until you do that, you are just a mob with pitchforks...
EDIT: I googled US illiteracy rate. Take this for what it is, I have not researched it in depth:
(Basically it means that nearly ONE THIRD of people in the US - (meaning DRIVERS) are functionally illiterate. Now, there again, I am in 100% favor of taking 1/3 of drivers off the road. ALL drivers, not just CDL holders...

In 2023, 28% of US adults scored at or below Level 1 in literacy, which is considered functionally illiterate. This means that nearly one in four adults struggles with basic reading and writing skills, impacting their ability to navigate daily tasks and participate fully in society. Adults below Level 1 can comprehend simple sentences and short paragraphs, but struggle with multi-step instructions or complex sentences.

Calm down and stop exaggerating. Nobody's rights are being trampled. The constitution gives congress the power to regulate interstate commerce and there's a regulation that says drivers need to be proficient in english. It's long past due they're all put out of service and the trucks towed away if they're not proficient in the prevailing language of everyday citizens and business in the US, english.

Gearjammin' Penguin, TNSnowman, TheLoadOut and 3 others Thank this. -
But I will also defend your right to have the wrong opinion -
You defended the rights of AMERICAN citizens. Not world citizens. The bill of rights only applies to Americans, foreign nationals are not protected under them.
MACK E-6, Gearjammin' Penguin, Diesel Dave and 4 others Thank this. -
And American drivers pay and quality of life has declined because of the influx of cheap foreign labor. Along with cheap foreign goods. So the very thing you are “defending” is harming those you swore an oath to protect

Or didnt you know that? Anyone here legally (and it isnt up to you or me to decide that) has the SAME EXACT RIGHTS as defined by the law. Regs are NOT laws.
We dont want people coming here and taking our "good" jobs... Well, I guess they can come here and take the jobs no one else wants then? Thats ok? Or lets just keep everyone out.

Ever go to Wal-mart? Guess what? You use "cheap foreign labor"... I remember the same arguments you people are trying to use now being used on Japanese cars in the US in the 1960s... "Buy American" was the slogan.
How well did that work out?
And YOUR argument has changed... It is no longer "english speaking drivers" but now its "cheap foreign labor"...
This is EXACTLY what I said above. The "rights" erode gradually until they are gone for everyone. This is EXACTLY the "slippery slope" that scholars warn about. And YOU are falling for it.
And why people like me will defend that wall...Last edited: May 22, 2025
Numb Thanks this. -
It's pretty obvious this relentless trolling is intentional to try and get this thread shut down. I certainly hope most states enforce this and begin tossing these invaders out on their arses.
drvrtech77 and ElmerFudpucker Thank this. -
