You got into trucking because you wanted a new car.
Well.
I hope you get to drive it from time to time, now and then.
And the other stuff?
You really didn't research what it was to be a truck driver before you began your trek... did you.
Enjoying the OTR life but miss being home.

I believe companies end up with quite a few drivers quitting just for this reason of being homesick and lonely. My husband did do training with another company for awhile and I know a lot of companies won't route loads anywhere close to where the student lived. He ended up with on kid who lived near Hope, AR, jumping ship at a truckstop pretty close by, the kids' wife was pregnant and he missed her. He had one disappear in another area, not even close to his hometown.
If and when you get your own truck, check and see if you can get Sirius radio, even if you have to get one of the portable ones that plug into the cigarette lighter, that way if a car race is on, you can listen to it.
Some trainers will also continue to be your mentor and a call to them could help also.
Being on the internet on places like TTR, take time also. There are also groups on facebook you can join that are truckers.
Going home can be stressful, esp if you have a house to keep up, and clean up before you leave. -
I'm doing much better. My 3rd week on my trainers truck he says i'm doing great and if they road test me today I would pass with no problem. I back in to docks and truck stops do all paper work and qual com everything pretty good with no problem. But the training program is 7 weeks long and it's pretty set and stone he going to talk to the training director and all those big guys and see if I can get off the truck early he says no reason to have me on the truck i'm a good driver and I have a good head on my shoulders and I will do great.
Hoping I get off here early want to start make some real money and go home for a few days!Moosetek13 and Chaps Thank this. -
Good Job man! Try to get your hometime around races and have a blast for a few days. I always felt like I better rest on the road than at home because you are trying to put 15 days lost into 2 1/2 days at home! Problem is it gets in your blood and you love it and crave being out there. Always great to get home but not too bad on the open road!

I hit 3400 miles this week. Again trainer thinks i'm doing great. He also says ill be awesome once i'm solo. I am thinking about walking across the street tomorrow and see of they can take a couple weeks off my training or see what we can do. Half the time my trainer is sleeping while i'm driving only time he is awake and watching me are when we are going up or down a hill and he pops right back in the sleeper. When he snoors it's like a song pretty funny.

For example, we have to deal with something the OTR guy doesn't, which is a commute. I drive about 40 minutes one way to the terminal, punch in at 0830, sometimes don't punch out until 8:00 PM, and then have to drive 40 minutes back home with barely enough time to eat and sleep before getting up at 0630 to do it again. That doesn't allow for much of a social life to speak of, short of annoying eveybody on here that is. -
Way to go man.
