and it took you 5.5 years to say enough is enough..

come now really... they don't work you over you hours and most of the time the miles are low.. they pay zip code to zip code movers guide miles like most companies.. maybe trucking isn't for you

Why are you leaving now??? After 5.5 years you're probably in the top 5% seniority by now...you should be getting the good, long runs!

How much are/were you making there after 5.5 years??

i left in january 2011 and i was gitting 35cents a mile and more empty miles than loaded my idea of miles isent running 300 empty then 400 then 500 and running empty trailers.they would run me 300 empty just to pickup a load going 100 miles then run me empty to pickup another empty them jump all over me about my miles as a company driver i can only get what ever they give me if i turn down a load i may sit 2 to 3 days before i get another i was always running non stop except for reset whitch i very seldom did. i,m not doing anything diferent now than i did then i,m running legal and i dont ask for hometime but twice a year and i dont have any complaints from anybody.but with swift thats all they did was complain and bug me everyday allday .the newbes got more loaded miles than i did even though i was asking everyday for loads they would say this all we have .and it would be 100 maybe 200 miles then sit .ask for more loaded miles then they say stop bugging use you will get a load when one is avable.and there will be 50 loaded trailers sitting right in front of me .and they would say don,t have any .i did everything legal and by the book.did 10.000 miles a month or more yet they would complain you need to do more loaded miles cause out of that 10.000 i only got 4 or 5000 loaded miles.i cant work with somebody on my back 24 7 give me the loads and let me do my job and leave me aloan .i will do the job and do it right .but i wont kiss nobodys you know.you can believe me or knot i don,t cair.got a perfic driveing record .

    Geez .35 after 5.5 years?

I knew I made a good choice in going where I went......which wasn't swift lol. I make that much my first year, with a .07 bonus on all miles that deliver Pa and points north of DC no matter where I pickup at and I'm home every weekend.

I'm not seeing the big deal loaded vs empty either. I'm usually planned pretty well but routinely run 100-150 empty doesn't bother me. Less stress on me and the truck. We all know going in we get paid helicopter miles that's just the way the game is played.

More here than he's telling. Usually is.
