They said they'd get me home every 7 to 10 days. I live in Arkansas, also heard you guys have a lot of drop and hook, is that true? And just all around how is the company? Is orientation cool? Thanks

Thanks. When were you hired? Lol Is it a good company all around? I heard it was a lot of drop and hook? I live in Arkansas and they told me I'd get home every 7 to 10 days out, that's my biggest concern is more hometime, but I do like to make money too. Thanks again

well....I've been reading this site for a couple of years...and because of it, I "jumped the gun" and came on. Flying has stated his d and h loads about 1 or 2 pages back! Will say.....it's trucking some weeks you go,go,go...some weeks you sit, sit, sit! I was through AK last week! I think you're gonna get on with Texas Star Express, am I correct? As far as getting home on weekends goes, it's a hit or miss. like flying has stated before....and I quote him, "Sometimes it's like clockwork and drivers are home every weekend, sometimes it's not." Out of the years I've been here, I've been home almost every weekend...but if I stay out more that 7 days, it's my choice, not theirs. So yes, if you do 2 weeks you get "roughly" 2 and a half days off. I'm usually out about 5-6 days and just take the 34, which has been changed to between 34-48 because of the "politicians" that make more money than God and haven't even driven a truck more than a day.....*shrugs shoulders* haha oh well.....you'll like it here, if you can get on.....they are top shelf and plan on keeping it that way. I really hope this helps you out....any further questions you should contact recruiting department!!!!

Be nice if I 'had the chioce'. Unfortunately I'm one of those it seems doesn't. I'm hung out 2 weeks. Again. On recap. And short recap hours at that so I'm not really going to be getting a whole lot done this week.

Should it really matter what kind of test they give? As many times as we (members of the forum as a whole across the board ) answer questions like that we should get paid to answer them at this point. Sorry just one of those questions that rubs me the wrong way......for personal and professional reasons. Just not a question that should have to be asked in this industry. You can either pass or you can't no matter what kind of test it is. The random program is pretty aggressive. I've had 4 in 27 months. They don't play with regard to that kind of thing.

Sitting in Atlanta waiting to see what they can put me on with only 8hrs today, 6 tomorrow and 8 Thursday and Friday.

Suppised to have a student starting on the truck Monday.

well those are the rules we play by and everyone knows it going in so can't really complain too much about it.

the OO side is pretty evenly split 50/50 from the ones I've talked to.....and I've talked to every one I can just feeling out that side of the company. some are doing well and happy and some aren't. I guess no different than company side lol some of us do really well and some don't and some of us get home every weekend and some of us get there when they good and well decide we do lol

delivered in garysburg this morning and as usual i'm almost out of time getting there and they take their sweet ### time about doing anything there. made it to the pilot with 2 minutes left.

you gotta love being hung out on recap. wait till midnight to get your time back, up all night running, deliver early am and advise dm of hours available and when and he says have something when you wake up.......sleep all day and then get up with time to run and of course no preplan. surprise surprise......so send in the message let them know I'm up and ready to go and they give you something that doesn't pick up before 7am. ugh. now I gotta try to nap after I've slept all day. sitting 18-24 hours blows and that's all I've done half the week now waiting to get time back and now I have to wait to pick up. Usually I do okay on recap and stay ahead of the clock but I had one trip over the weekend that forced me onto the back side of the recap clock and now I'm stuck there. Makes for a frustrating week.

all I know is I better see the house Friday.

Well...after almost 2 years here...I finally got a LEVEL 2 inspection. Never had that before.....of course I have a brand new truck with only right over 6600 miles on it, and no drunk driver, or trainer on board....hehe. Passed with high flying colors. I was almost begging for a LEVEL 1....why? Because the truck and trailer were both new! lol Nope, not even when I said I'd pull the creeper out for him. Oh well....at least I get $50, not too shabby for about 20 wasted minutes of 'our' time. I do think that the guy was new, tho, since as soon as he was doing paperwork on someone, he pulled another guy in. Next week it better be a LEVEL 1, with a newer trailer. Now, how many drivers does anybody know that wanting that? Well, us guys that run legal, with new equipment do. :S

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones, I get home most weekends. I also average 2500 miles a week. I like working for Epes for the most part yea there are good weeks and bad ones but for the most part it is a good company.

Lol yeah it is better than most out here.....but weeks like the one I had this past week just make me want to slap someone by the time I get home the frustration level is so high dealing with the recap. The planning the 2nd week out is never anything that really seems to be in sync with the hours available and you almost always sit more than you roll on the recap week. At least for me and with my planner. Its like you get under-utilized and planned short like they're afraid you cant manage your recap and will run out of time during a trip. Out 12 days and only 1490 miles the 2nd week isn't worth leaving the house for. But I usually get it made up the next week out.

Had some good runs out to Texas and Oklahoma. Came back through Arkansas, down to Mississipi and now up to Indiana. Oklahoma is pretty country...
