Everyone calls me ROOSTER, and I'm in my 2nd day of orientation. I used to work for them from 1990-97, i never should have left. Back then they had about 200 trucks i would guess.
And NOW they have 750 trucks plus 200 OO's. Safety Man is GREAT and very imformative and i LEARNED ALOT being a 33 year veteran of trucking. I've been told they keep their trucks 3 years at a time, for warranty issues. Their turning in 07 models now.
Also they are hiring students too, They have really grown leaps and bounds in 13 years since I've been gone.

I live 5 mile from the morristown terminal, and they are still trucks there. I didnt know they were closeing that one down.

Epes didnt completely close the Morristown terminal. The shop was closed and dispatch out of there is limited to only one driver mgr who dispatches the local drivers and a handful of road drivers. All other drivers (including myself) were reassigned to driver mgrs out of the home terminal in Greensboro. It is still used as a drop yard and the drivers who live nearby still park there when they go home on weekends.

Since most of their '07 tractors have reached or are close to reaching the 500,000 mi milestone, they are replacing them as we speak. They just recieved several 2011 Volvo 660's and FL Cascadias. Unfortunately (depending on your point of view), they are equipting all the 2011's with EOBR's. The entire fleet will soon have them.Last edited: Dec 30, 2010

Epes is a really good family owned company. Seem to be very strong financially as they bought out another company just this year. Plus they just purchased about 100+ new trailers and are phasing out some of the oldest ones. New Volvos and Freightliners sit on the yard waiting to be assigned as we speak.
Pay is about average, I guess. Tops out at .36 and you will avg about 2200 miles if you chose to go home every weekend as they guarantee. I avg a bit more because I choose to only go home every other wknd. Safety bonus is .01 per mile-paid quarterly. Insurance is good-available after 90 days. Matching 401K, disability, dental, vision and life insurance available. I've never failed to get paid for a load as long as I trans-flowed or trip-paked scanned my paperwork in on time.
One thing I can say is, you seldom ever sit. Generally you are preassigned another load before you even arrive at your destination. Colgate, Lowes, Home Depot, Phillip Morris, P&G, Intl Paper are just a few of their larger accounts.Last edited: Dec 30, 2010

Is it true that they are hiring drivers out of driving school? I hope so giving i live so close to morristown yard.
