    Hi,
I will be finishing driving school soon and Epes is on my short list. My home is in northeast Tennessee about 45 miles from Epes' Morristown terminal. Pros / cons of Epes. Any advice and opinions would be appreciated. My curiousity is regarding running area, medical / dental insurance, toll reimbursement, hand unloads and hometime.

    Thank You.

We've got an in depth 250+ page thread on here. Spend some quality reading time and all those questions will be answered. Several of us post on there regularly. You have to do a search for it but it's in here. We tell it all good, bad, ugly or indifferent.

The short answer to a couple of them is we've got ezpass/prepass only toll I've had to pay was in Oklahoma. Reimbursement for any out of pocket things is immediate on the next check if you follow procedure turning in receipts with the trip sheet.

You Won't be hand loading/unloading anything. Most I've ever had to do was pull cardboard slip sheets off pallets before they were loaded.

Home time is weekly. Some guys run weekends and get in during the week some of us are in weekends. It works out how it works out but you'll be in weekly unless you want to run longer. Occasionally you'll get stuck out 2 weeks but it's rare. Never more than 2 weeks unless by choice. Very easy to work with if you have to be in on a specific date with advance notice or if there is an emergency and you have to get in.

You'll run everywhere east of the Mississippi with a lot of northeast. Some limited Midwest.

Insurance is middle of the road. Not the greatest not the worst.

Many pros few cons. Great gig for newbies with above average pay for a van gig right out of school. I did 43,890 first year. Outstanding trainers and no team training. The fact that we have so many drivers as a percentage of total drivers who have 10,15,20+ years with the company say a lot. Just published turnover figures for last 12 months is only 36% which is about 2/3 below the national average. Good number.

We we have our issues of course there is no perfect company. But they are few and manageable compared to the major mega carriers.

Epes sounds like a real good company from all I have heard and read. The fact that so many older drivers remain says it all. I'll read the thread you referred to. Thank you for the reply. Epes is definately on the top side of my list.
    Thank you.
