    Me again Guy's,

    A couple of questions:

As far as securement chains,Do you use the standard grade 70 and plenty of them or do you go with grade 80 or grade 100? I know the cost is quite a bit more for 80 and 100 but we are talking about a lot of weight! Just asking as I am getting my small equipment budget together.

I know what I am going to carry,But how many chains do you carry ????

Also what size Tarps and how many of each size?

Also,What are your opinions of 4" Ratchet Straps?

Break over Binders or Ratchet style ?

Dunnage,What width and length and how many ?

I have a habit of buying more than I need,Higher grade of chain,Larger Quanity

More Tarps than you will ever use,It's just a problem I have and I deal with. But I also believ you can never have to many chains on a load,But you CAN have too few!!

Any thing else I have not thought about yet to make my life easier and safer??

I already have plenty of light bars and OD/OW signs,Flags Etc.

    Thanks for your opinions,

    Robert

Grade 70 is fine, grade 80 is better, grade 100 is a lifting chains and is beyond overkill. Get about 5 1/2" chains in various lengths and about 5 3/8" chains in various lengths. Tarps? none. Ratchet binders for sure. 4 inch straps are fine. Dunnage, depends on the load really, no universal answer for this

Grade 8 and up are to "brittle", believe me you want the links to stretch if needed much better then snapping and falling off or dragging and blowing tires. keep on eye on links for stretching replace as needed.
    I use all 1/2" gr7, work great.
4-5ft 5/8 w/grab hooks really come in handy.

    Macneil Thanks this.

    I make sure I have.

    8- 1/2" chains (4 long over 10 feet 4 short 8-10 feet)
8 -1/2" chains with grab hook and maybe a slip hook about 2 feet long
    10- 1/2" ratchet binders
    12- 3/8" 20 foot chains
12- 3/8" binders (8 snap 4 ratchet) may vary more just depends how they are being used

20 or so 2inch ratchet straps (no 4inch since company does buy them) enough edge protectors just in case

Dunnage, try not to but a few 4foot long blocks, and a few 2foot long blocks I would say at least 4x4 some cases a 8x 12 if can find or just 6x6's of good quality wood. no cheap stuff never lasts
