I have an Espar bunk heater that runs off the 4 regular batteries in my '08 Freightliner Columbia. The problem is it only runs for 5-6 hours before the power to the bunk & heater gets cut off after the voltage gets too low. They replaced the batteries a month ago and the alternator puts out 14 volts. The only other thing that is plugged in is my fridge that draws 7 amps and only runs 30% of the time (Cycles).
Is this normal run time for an Espar heater to run? If not what do you think could be wrong?

7 amps is a decent amont of power. The problem is your Espar should be hooked up directly to the batteries, not to the low voltage protection. With just an Espar running, four batteries should last 50+ hours easily. They only draw .5-2 amps, and 3 on the highest setting.
At what voltage does the cutout occur? Is it adjustable?MNdriver Thanks this. -
I have 4 batteries in my truck and I have my espar hooked right to them . I have left it running for a week and my truck started just fine .

Wire direct to the batteries.

sound to me like the battery connections need to be checked

Last time I looked at the manual they have a prebuilt in low cut at 9volts. So if batteries hit 9volts it'll cut out. Also if you crank your unit on high it will draw more power.

I just ran mine all weekend and it's still running.
APU started fine today when I went out. It'll run all night as I leave at 5 AM for the next two weeks. -
Mine was wired to the batteries too, but had a bad ground and would run for an hour then shut off with a low voltage blink code on the controller. Ran a new ground and now it stays on like it should.
