I'm putting this question in the brokers section even though it's essentially a rant against brokers. Not all brokers but some. I hope that the more experienced can answer some questions and I hope some carriers will chime in with their experiences like mine.
Today I onboarded with a broker with decent reviews because they had a load I was interested in covering.
I did their RMIS packet and got more info on the load. When I got more info I realized the load wasn't going to work for me but I'd already done their packet. In the packet I requested 3 day 3% quickpay instead of 30 day pay. I do this with some brokers, especially new ones to me if they offer a decent rate.
A few minutes later I got an email from their compliance guy saying they couldn't offer me quickpay because I have Progressive Insurance. What? WTH does that have to do with quickpay which the carrier pays THEM a fee for?
Basically, I see this as discrimination. I have great credit. I keep my word. I've been doing this 7 years now and can count on one hand people I can't/won't work with. I have kept Progressive Insurance because I have a great agent who has taken care of me and beat out everyone else I've tried at renewal time, 6 times.
This is the 3rd time THIS year I've been told by a brokerage that they couldn't work with me because I have Progressive Insurance. Different reasons for this each time.
Please share your thoughts and experiences with brokers misguided, arbitrary, stupid *** rules they are implementing lately, I'm sure in the name of fraud prevention, but quickpay? Why?
Essentially discrimination

Not at all the same situation but you got me thinking about the quick pay.
With certain Brokers I would do that also to take a quick pay in the beginning and then if I started working for them a lot I would go back to a regular pay.
I don't know if they still do it or not, but Nolan transportation gave me the Quick Pay, but they would not let me out of it.
They had some kind of number of loads that they wanted to make money off of you before they release you out of that.
I don't know how many it was, but it wasn't one or two and I just ended up getting away from them it really pissed me off.
I felt like I was dealing with a loan shark.Olec, Lite bug, Rideandrepair and 1 other person Thank this. -
From the other side, progressive writes a lot with a "radius". Even though they say you can run outside it if/when something happens they deny it.
Every claim we had against progressive, whether on the brokerage or carrier side has been a nightmare to get paid if ever.
To get if the policy has a radius, they will take a long time to respond. -
Yeah, Progressive can be a PITA to get paid on very standard and documented claims, so some brokerages just don't want to deal with the hassle.

I've had one freight claim in 7 years. $5k damage. I paid my deductible and everything went through fine.
Aren't a huge number of carriers with Progressive? That's always been my understanding.
But still, I don't understand the link to quick pay. If the broker doesn't want to work with Progressive just say so and don't work with the carrier.
People's reasoning for quickpay or not don't have anything to do with their insurance that I can see.Olec, FloridaRetired, Dino soar and 1 other person Thank this. -
I believe that things went smoothly for you on your claim. And yes, a very large population carrier side uses progressive. 99% of the time, it's fine. It's just that more often than not, if Progressive is involved in the claims process, we know it's going to suck.
At any rate, sorry that that happened to you. I can imagine it's frustrating.Big Road Skateboard, 86scotty and Dino soar Thank this.
