Wondering if anyone has any knowledge on what this company is like. The job description says --- Will operate tractor/trailer in the transportation of freight traveling within the city based out of and a one hundred mile radius in accordance with Company, Federal, State and Local laws with regard to run times and DOT regulations.

I have no knowledge of LTL or Estes..wondering if anyone did.

estes i have heard good from there local drivers...LTL is less than truckload, you might have 15-20+ stops a day, and you may only drop off one piece here and there

i believe if you run OTR/Regional? you have to have doubles/trips on your license

    are you considering quiting Crete?

LOL...no. Just reading through my local papers want ads.. I am thinking of getting married, and wanted to see what was available in my area just in case she cant handle me doing OTR. It would only be for the love of a woman that I would consider quitting Crete.

I see by your date this is a little late, but what the hell. I been working for them nearly a year now. The good: hourly rate is 19.97 and after 55 hours its time and half. Health insurance is blue cross, covers everthing, cost about 20 to 80 a week depending on single or family/deductables. Im a p & d driver so most of it is hands on, I do few miles, maybe about 10 to 15 stops per day, and maybe 500 miles a week, home everday and weekends. Sounds good? The bad: The terminal is outdated, the equipment is 10 to 15 years old, basic internationals with 9 speed that is really an 8, because of low gear. Most have tape decks if lucky, few have A/C or P/S, few also have Air ride tractors, none have air ride trailers. I do lol have an air ride seat! The tractors are serviced once a year, woo hoo, mine is coming up soon! Thats if you dont have a garage in house. The pallet jacks are missing wheels, the lift gates on the trailers work on the outside, and most not on the inside, so that means ever time its all the way up, you must jump down to operate switch. Dollies for the double trailers have bald tires, serviced when needed, same with trailers. The p lot is like driving on the moon, but since we had snow last few weeks, it has smoothed it out. Oh and dont get used to 55 hours + thats only in the summer few and far, its been 35 to 45 for the last 6 months. Not to mention the forced 2.5 hours a week they take from you for lunch. I try to squeeze in a 10 if i have time. We do lots of food warehouses, so expect to lump all your freight. On the high side of Estes is the OTR, they get new trucks with ac and cd player, at a rate of 51 cents per mile. Every time i put my name for a bid on that, seems they like my p and d work better.

yea i just quit them because of all the bad things i could not stay just because i was home everyday i am working for R&J Trucking i am regional which is home every weakend and sometimes through the week Estes people skills suck ##### they care more about that fright than you. They would give you 10 to 15 stops and would send you pick ups before you left the yard at 10:30 and you had to do all that before 5 if you have bring backs it was if you shoot someone they threw a fit. I ran the EXTRA board all last summer which means they give you a 2000 international truck with a day cab and would have you drive 600 miles a day and at the end of your day you went to a stinky, dirty bunk house or you got to go to a cheep hotel. Yea the money was good and the extra board is all drop and hook but them truck are junk and beat you todeath. They write you up for everything then would use that write up to not give you your 6 month raise they wrote me up for logging 60 mph on my log book. trust me they suck the insurence is good and to be home is nice but the other stuff is so bad that it just was not worth it.
