Yeah you have to be 21 though for the cdl and even then only a few companies hire 21 if you was planning on signing a contract for them to pay for your school. I had to go with CRST because I was 2 young for Stevens. I would not recommend CRST to my worst enemy though.

Wow. It's so easy to get your CDL here in the U.S. You can get it in a matter of weeks! Is it like that everywhere in Europe? You have to spend an X amount of years under an apprenticeship?
You speak very good English by the way. Unlike some of these so called "professional drivers" here. LOL -

Well, seems like the Americans don't care about safety as much as the Europeans do ^^
I mean the American trucks are way bigger than the European trucks. And our trucks are very easy to drive. I've worked with Mercedes and MAN trucks most of the time and many of them have automatic transmission or simple 8-gear manual so you drive it just like a big car.
I made my truck license within 3 weeks too. The difference is just, I can use it only private or for civil service. But if you wanna drive for another company you need a special apprenticeship. Doesn't really make sense, but that's Europe...Dinomite Thanks this. -
My thoughts about your original post is your English is better than a lot of the illiterates that troll around these forums.
Euro-Dude, gb2nyc and Balakov100 Thank this. -

I guess our apprenticeship is too be with a bad company for a year, and then we would know if we don't drive safe. We have to go back to that hell hole or find another career.

First I have to fly to the US for an interview, make some fingerprints and much other stuff. So I'm still in Germany right now and I have to consider if I should take the chance or stay here. I think you have like 5 years to go to the US. So I may have some time when I get the GC.
