If it just $20 to clean a truck, maybe the truck owner should step and take responsibility for his operation and health of his employee and clean the truck.

But he doesn't, he know it is just another unpaid job he can foist on an unsuspecting employee. He knows cleaning out a smoke filled truck is next to impossible and just looking for a chump to do the dirty work in his operation and suck up the expenses.

Good on the OP for estimating the real wages of some of these starter company CPM jobs.

I cleaned my own truck when they assigned it to me. They said it was clean. But it wasn't clean enough to my standards. So I wiped all surfaces and bought a mini shop vac to get what looked like dander and dust. Took hours over a few days. Cleaning surfaces with simple green, windex, vacuuming. Sleeper berth window alway cracked open for air flow.

I immediately went out on my first load the day I got my dirty truck. The cleaning took several days and was done by me in between doing loads.

In the end I got a truck I love and I made way more than fast food jobs. I could've complained and demanded that I do nothing until they make me happy. But instead I took as many loads as possible. 16 months later I now make 25% more mileage pay and I'm happy with that same truck. I know it's clean because I did it and do it to my standards.

I'm glad I didn't do what you did.

I don't disagree completely with you. He could be like me, and get physically ill if I'm in an enclosed place with a smoker. I cannot be in a vehicle of a heavy smoker for more than a few minutes before I have an almost migraine headache. The company should have gotten the truck cleaned out between drivers. Should be standard at all companies.
That being said, if he was being a snowflake that got offended by seeing a few bits of missed ash, yea he deserves not getting any miles/

It isn't practical to expect a company to have a truck towed hundreds of miles back to the closest terminal in order to clean it.

Very true, but that should be the exception. Maybe have the new driver run by the terminal on/after the first load. Heck, it probably needs a good inspection done anyway by that time.

Ozium spray tends to do a good job eliminating smoke odor. Don't write the company off just yet. Starting out telling them what you won't do isn't exactly the recipe for getting all the miles. I don't think my company is the greatest but I avg a grand a week home every day, rarely work weekends. Job hopping doesn't bode well for quality jobs either. Be patient.

Oziom works great. But don't buy it in the auto section. A can three times as big is over in the household cleaning silly section for half the cost.

However the stuff is strong. You can't use it and stay in the vehicle. You got to spray then get out of the truck for any hour or so.

There's always a reason not to work. I worked 69 hours last week and Grossed a little over 1600.00. Do you want to work or go home. I don't smoke anymore and would hate to get a truck where somebody did. Be a problem solver then go get paid.

It takes just a few days to purge cigarette smoke smell, in a week it is all gone no matter what cancer law suits say. This industry lives off working against drivers wishes. Smoker truck is just about the smallest inconvenience I can think of. If you can't take this small inconvenience you certainly will not like all the bs and disregard waiting for you ahead.
