So you carry an abundance of super glue, but no duct tape? :biggrin_2556:

I found the most awesome stuff.. Gorilla Glue brand super glue gel. Got it in February and use it sporadically and because of the gel it doesn't dry in the bottle. Also because of the gel it doesn't wick near as bad as normal super glues does.

Next time you have a cap split, pretty much any cap but the radiator cap, grab some electrical tape and wrap it tightly around the cap a bunch of times. It stretches and will hold the two pieces of the cap together until you can find one.

Also, you can make a cap or plug for just about anything out of aluminum foil. The choice of hack mechanics throughout history.

Luckily that’s some cheap super glue. If a big set of Channel Locks won’t snap it loose. Use a 1/4” air die grinder. $20 at Harbor freight.Along with a pack of cutoff wheels. Cut the cap off, and use the cutoff wheel to remove any glue left. Maybe some sandpaper would help. It was a good idea. Just should have taken the cap off first. Goof off melts plastic. Goo gone doesn’t. I’ve used it on my dashboard to remove official Freightliner dash repair duct tape.

If you’re a tightwad like me and can’t get it off, then drill a hole in the cap and fill with a funnel. You can use about anything to plug the hole... cork, wax paper etc.
