My company has been sending out quite a few messages lately over the inboard computer, stating there's been drivers missing the Scale Houses and have been getting ticketed. And yes this goes on your CSA score for something like failure to obey a traffic signal.

I'm not sure how so many drivers are doing this. My GPS is setup to warn me of a chicken coop miles in advance. I'm thinking a lot of guys are just using their phones for routing and aren't alerted? I can understand how when there's traffic with a lot of trucks in a line how you might miss the sign(s). But when everyone is braking and getting over to the right lane and you see the overhead electronics you should be clued in as to whats going on.

So my question is this. Have you ever missed a scale house when it was open and how did that happen, other than just not paying attention perhaps?

The only way a professional misses an open weigh station is by not being mentally engaged in the act of driving. Drivers like that deserve the ticket they get.

I have done it 3 times in two years, all by accident, all when I was having a terrible day and was not mentally 100%, all in states that are regarded as being "tough" if you blow the scale (Georgia, Indiana, Illinois). I didn't get pulled over any of those times.

I've done it a bunch of times. Especially in WA and OR. They have these tiny coups and once you realize it's there it's too late. Never been chased down.

not all truck gps's tell you there's a coop.

and yes, i've done it. there are tons of reasons why one would miss the signs. besides the typical one you all like to talk about.

Where's that scale I think in NJ where it's right after the toll and you pretty much have to do a U-Turn? I never ever go in there. I blow it off every single time.

I was pulling some heavy stuff, 47,000 lb load in the box....didn't scale out and decided to risk it :)

Blew by the scale house at 70 mph

kept looking in my mirror for the flashing lights...but there were none!

They must have had bigger fish to fry that day!
