beat me to it with your response. As a matter of fact try counting how many "red dots" are in New York.

They sit out there checking grain haulers scale tickets. -

Blow a scale? Yes. The NB Cottonwood scale before it became a super-coop. No excuse, just tired and brain dead I guess. I kept waiting for the flashing blue lights and...nothing. I figured I'd gotten away with it. Almost, but not quite.
When I got to the yard the truck boss was grinning..."Cottonwood called, next time you blow the scales they're gonna get the CHP helicopter out and strafe you". In the meantime consider yourself warned. I promised never to do it again. And I haven't. So far.
That was a lot of years ago. Try that today and it would probably cost an arm and a leg.Vito Thanks this. -
Not really a scale but related. NC troopers take the "Information Center" at the top of black mountain on I-40 very seriously, and they will come get you if you pass it. Saw 2 troopers get 2 trucks running nose to tail that passed it just the other day. Bet they won't do that again.
Same goes for the one at Sams Gap in I-26 but they don't frequent that one as often.Vito Thanks this. -
Only for a month out of CDL school, while using a GPS that forewarned me too. My EZ Pass didn't go off and zipped by with no issues. Not looking to make a habit of that though.

I ran the eastbound scale in Butte Montana a couple years ago. It is off of an exit and I didn't know that, I thought it was past the exit up across from the westbound scale. I went up to the next exit and turned around and weighed on the westbound side. Probably should have just hammered down, nobody was coming for me.

Upstate NY can be a treat--and it isnt just every rest area..where you have little or no warning--(w/out bothering to look it up on a mpa)The last exit on 390 N before the thruway going into Rochester..leads up to a long 3lane service road--they NYS DOT have been known to block 2 of the lanes up on the service rd--put one little orange sign before the exit and do inspections up there...and just to show they can be vigilant--this Tuesday--before they really got the roads cleaned up from the storm..they were hot.heavy at the pkg area on 15 south just before the pa line--and they were boggin the creepers down in the snow...course not sure if that was to make a point or just 3-4 troopers who their superiors didnt like---lol
Vito Thanks this. -
Doesn't New York have two weigh stations on 81 now?
