What type of GPS do you have? This particular file downloads for TomTom users and also in .csv format (spreadsheet). If you have a Garmin, RM, or something else the file needs to be converted, after downloading, before you upload it to your GPS.

You can convert POI files using this free online software:

    http://www.gps-data-team.com/convert.php

Don't be freaked out by all this. It's actually very easy to convert files and then upload them to your GPS.

Anybody with questions about this feel free to ask.

Also, I would love to get more drivers involved with The POI Factory site, and help me to keep this Weigh Stations POI file updated. There's only a few OTR drivers on the site now.

I just saw this one the other day myself. Wasn't sure if it was open. Drove around it in a circle and left. Stupid scale that one.

OK so you would use the link above to convert the file once you download it. And no, POI files can be used on a truck GPS or regular. Both use the same maps, the only difference is that the truck GPS restricts certain roads (that trucks are not allowed on) when it route plans. And once you join the site there are plenty of really great people on the site to help answer questions as well in the Forums.

Other POI's of interest for drivers are these:

Sounds like mega mentality, I know for a fact there are plenty of professional drivers who have "missed" the scale by "accident" done it a time or fifty myself, no tickets yet...
Or the ones who pull in knowing their in volition, God ######, they gotta catch me, no turning myself in lol
Hey BD, I've been here and there, how you doing?

I'm supposed to have Pre-Pass and for some reason it doesn't work anymore.

I'm a good little doggie and I always pull in (at least in states that actively enforce) but I always wonder about the guys that blow by the scale as I'm slowing down. Did THEY get a green light? Or are they just risking it in a pack?

My company gives a $100 for a clean bill of health from the DOT so that's a bonus if everything's good.

But those "gotcha" rest area inspections in upstate NY? If I roll though and nobody waves to me I'm not stopping to ask.

(There was one time in OH when I stopped in a rest area to pee, and I saw the LEO walking up the line doing inspections. I tossed my trash and got back out on the road. I'm sure there was a dehydrated petunia up the road that needed me more)

Back in the day, it wasn't uncommon for the DOT to bang on your door (especially on 17) around 8 AM and tell you to get your ### out the way, he was going start inspecting trucks soon. It was a nice to get a wake up after running until 3 or 4 in the morning! :biggrin_2559:
