Oh yes there is. It's like 2 miles west of the POE.

Wasn't 80. Was a way I don't go west often. Maybe was 94 in Montana. But I think was Wyoming.

All the time, I've got Drivewyze. Even if they probably should be chatting with me, I get a bypass. Saves a lot of drive time and fuel.

Some states like to change it around and have "Open" in red on the electronic sign and "Green" closed. Seems counterintuitive. I passed a scale in I think Maryland because of that when I first started driving but they didn't chase me down.

I have blowed a few. Use to blow the one in OH 3-4 times a week at night. The scale master was about to retire and for almost 2 years didn't give ####. We were WAY out of shape on gross to.
I have also backed up almost 2 miles on the shoulder and up the get on ramp to go back the other way cause everyone said they were closed on the radio until I was 1 mile past the last exit before the scale.

I run into Montana several times a week with triples. Our trucks have pre-pass and I usually get a green to bypass.
Apparently in MT, ALL triple combination vehicles are required to exit, pre-pass or no. Anyway, I wasn't aware of this law so I just kept bypassing the scale with no consequences, until there was a bulletin posted at my terminal saying you must exit at ALL open scales, even with pre-pass. I was curious so I went in and asked the DOT officer one night. They said it has been a law for years, but they have not started to strictly enforce it until recently... Now I always pull into the coop with triples, even with a green on the pre-pass.

so, not really a blow thru but a funny anyway

Picked up a load of drywall (i hate tarps). BOL says 46k. I can take 47,700 full of fuel with my fat butt in the seat and be at 80k, and since i'm at half tanks, i'm good. I grab this preloaded trailer and it's HEAVY. the suspension gauge on the drives is probably right at 36k. (36k is legal in colorado). What the? check trailer tandems all the way back, load centered on the trailer. Dang. Heading for Denver.

I'm crawling. I"m down to low 6 going up Vail. it's HEAVY. What is the deal?

Have drive-wyze. (which as someone said earlier you get way more bypasses) but it doesn't seem to work well on EB I70 at downieville (the scale in the mountains) and it's always late.

    "pull in unless closed"
    Of course it's open

"forward slowly" the sign says (which is normal, colorado usually does that unless you are real close).
You can see the numbers are you roll

    12,200
36,100 (well dang, maybe they'll give me the 100lbs)
    34,500

FUDGE!!!!!!!!!!! dang it (do the math, it's like 82,000 which is definitely NOT legal))
    "forward slowly"
    i'm still going
    "forward slowly"
can't read it anymore and I am outta here

Scale person must have been in the bathroom, I don't know and don't care. I grabbed gears and split.

I double checked at the yard scale. 82,000 something. Way over, bunch of liars at that drywall place.

    x1Heavy and snowlauncher Thank this.

    82,800 actually,,,
But why would you bias on your drives like that? 36k is legal in Colorado but what about the tandem set?
    12-36-34 is legal?
I'd rather run 12-35-35, even though it's not legal the trailer handles better if it's balanced.

(EDIT: just did the math, they hit you with 50,500# going by your numbers. Since most trucks, well my math for dry vans anyway, only have room for 40k you were overloaded by 10.5k!!!
Someone either got greedy, or really stupid.)

All the time. Last 10 years I’ve ran as many as I’ve stopped at.
But, you learn from people and experience who are just like you. Where you can run wen they’re open when they close what time they eat lunch. Etc etc
I usually never have anything to hide. Just hate stopping then having to grab gears again
