Passed one in GA after getting a red light on the prepass. the ramp was full and wasn't moving so pulling an empty flat I just went on by. No problems except from the prepass. I got red lights at all scales for the next 30 days. Next time I'll take down the prepass and sit on it. :)
I've passed a few others when they were full but the had prepass turned off and were pulling all trucks in.

I talked to a bunch of produce haulers in CA one day at a truckstop. I mentioned that I thought their loads were way over. They said yes. It's cheaper to pay the fine because they make much more hauling heavy. They all left at the same time when someones cell phone rang. Wife in a car, THE SCALES ARE CLOSED. It was funny.

yes that is all.the scale operator, not a dot officer, did not ask for my logs(loose leaf) nor did he walk around my truck.i sat on the dead weigh scales for about 30 seconds, maybe a minute, and knew i was getting a ticket. a feeling is aquired over time that one gets.

he was a pleasant individual and personable as well. i thanked him for being both,to which he chuckled, and i signed my name 4 times and was off to hwy 78 to go around,er,bypass, alabama's scales.

for those that still have concern as to whether or not overweights go against your csa, cease your worry.he explained,i already knew, that they do not count against the driver nor the company. so there you go you goody two shoes that stay stressed out over csa points and the repercussions there of.

I have blown more scales than I can count. Never by accident, usually my wagon is so funky they just let me ride lol.

If you pass a scale house or DOT inspection station in NY you better believe your getting stopped and ticketed, as DOT now have State Troopers who sit and watch to make sure every truck goes through..

Yep. My first month on the open road. Washington State. Night time, raining cats-dogs-n-chickens, in a construction zone. Yep. Got pulled over before I could turn around on the ramp. Got a warning, no ticket. Got lucky for sure.

If you get a written warning for skipping a scale, you can't fight the points. If you are ticketed you can fight it and get it dropped at least to help with points.

Back in the day on our way to Cali going out of NM into Az. on 40 we would shut our lights off and put the pedal to the metal. The port in Az. had scales but they did not use them. So we would pull in park go in the Az. port and they would say whoever just ran the NM. scale you have to go back, which everyone would chuckle and go about their business. I'm pretty sure that would not fly today.
