I get the point- has to be a 2 way street- believe they wont lose a second sleep to file a claim on a carrier for damages-
Me Personally- I'd Bill No matter the damage to my equipment- Its business- Shouldn't get personal.....If they decide to unlock ties with me...It would show me i'm "Not Needed"
Been too many times carriers just "Let things go" just to have a customer.......
Ever charge a shipper for damage to your trailer?

When they load/unload by the very "sound and shake" I can sense, if they are abusing the trailer. I will never let them get away with any substantial damage due to a forklift operator negligence. From retrospect, they never let me get away with me damaging their staff, it did happen a few times They always wanted insurance and my carrier's contact....

I never involved insurance in my ordeal and we got it worked out. For such a minor thing involving insurance seems a stretch. I've had people slice clean thru logistics posts in the walls before and had holes knocked in the roof or roof bows busted. Those were all cheap, easy fixes and generally if someone gives me a $100 on the spot for their mishap I'm good. I've had that happen before too. But in this scenario they knocked holes in the nose of my trailer which meant drilling out about 300 rivets and some other BS to replace the panel as it was the one where the airlines and pigtail plug in. I wasnt going to patch it because it busted one of the posts and I wasnt too keen on replacing it myself. Got an estimate at a trailer dealer and got it done for $1,100 then showed them the invoice.

If the forklift driver bangs the side of my flatbed to hard I grab my binder pipe, walk up and ask if he drove to work today and he says yes and I ask what do you drive and he asks why and I tell him I'm going to use my pipe on his car like he is using his lift on my trailer.
