Not sure how I would handle that.

I'd probably be offended and want them to mind their own business,.. not that I had anything to hide. Its just the principle of them digging into what I feel shouldnt concern them.

But like others have said,.. if the money is good and you can negotiate some better rates for their added security,.. I may reconsider my initial bad attitude and comply.

    Your call.

Had JB Hunt asking for VIN # once, probably to check if truck is covered under carrier insurance.

this was pretty much how my thought process went. first feeling was to tell them to get bent and mind there own business. but then the thought process changed to well if i can make money money and i got nothing to hide anyway. but i still feel like they are sticking there nose places they shouldn't be.

although i agree with its not there job to police weather i am legal or not.
the fact that i have not hauled any of there loads in 6 months doesn't mean a whole lot. very few move any of these loads over the winter months. i could stand to make a good bit of coin from them over the next several months.

I agree. If this is good paying , and steady, reliable freight... comply.

If it's just "everyday" ho-hum freight, and they like your service. .. comply, with a rate increase for the verification of the safety documentation.

Turabouts are fair play in the biz world.

If you go back to the days before dereg,,,this wasn't uncommon--most places you would trip lease to required you to go to their office and present most of this before they would dispatch you(although there wasn't drug testing at the time)Typically today--most 3d parties(and some shippers)require a you to be SET UP w/them(as they call it)before you can work with/for them....but this is usually a one time deal..and in the anywhere form 3-10 page set up paperwork they ask for most of this.
In this case I really do not see it as anything different. Im also guessing that since you are going to be hauling oversize(at least thats how I read it-I may be wrong)there may be other factors at play--including their insurance and the owner of the loads insurance. IMHO as usual it boils down to $$$$ if the xtra hassle involved is covered by the rate and amount of work you will receive...then by all means go for it(since they really aren't asking for anything that isn't already required by the DOT and is after all--mostly public record)Good luck

Most likely wanted to make sure you where legal you would be surprised how many dont have cdl, ins,or proper registration. And these days with the slip and fall lawyers they try to go after everyone involved in a accident not just the driver including who loaded them or whose product it is who ever has the biggest pockets. That and they might be trying do stop double brokering. That you actually have trk/trl and not just a phone. Been asked for items like that before no biggie i got nothing to hide. Kinda like when you bring in a overweight load to elevator and they fine the elevator and you when dot look at the weight receipts.
