@jimbo33 So did we ever learn if these guys were legit or scammers? I know you said there were signs there. Did the signs even look legit? It sounds like they are posted out of sight on purpose. What was the overall demeanor of the dudes once the cops showed up and they left with no money at all?
Ever paid a locksmith to remove a boot from their truck?

I feel bad for the op but glad it ended relatively well. I have had some similar things happen where parking signs are defaced or not visible. I had a gooseneck livestock trailer towed once because it took up too many spaces in the otherwise empty visitor parking when I moved away from the apartment I stayed in at college. I was using it to transport my junk to the next place I was staying and in the 2 years I lived there, there were often random trailers parked in that area so I didn’t figure anyone would care. It was visitor parking way off in the far corner of the lot and I think I saw it getting used for its intended purpose about twice but apparently the maintenance guy was feeling dickish and decided to get my trailer towed. I was not to pleased especially since they gave me the wrong towing company to go retrieve it from. I ended up spending half a day tracking that thing down. It cost me a couple hundred bucks to bail it out too. Let’s just say I brought that trailer back two other times that fall with a bunch of fat hogs in it and those little guys sure pooped a lot and somehow it all got through the gaps in the floor. I bet that fat ### maintenance dude sure enjoyed cleaning that up.

@jimbo33 so when are you going to reveal this location?

If there were no warning signs around the hotel, I'd get a grinder.

I read a story about 2 young women who ran just such a service in Atlanta (although it was primarily for autos). They would disassemble all brands of boots, put all the bots and nuts in a plastic bag, move it to the curb, then even call the boot company to let them know that they can come and pick up their device.
