That's what I was told at a job where they had inward facing cameras. NO ONE IS WATCHING YOU! But a shipping lead, showed me on his desktop computer, a website, where everyone that drove there, had pictures of them, usually with a goofy expression on their face. From different times, different days, etc. The one shipping manager told one driver she needed to quit rolling stop signs. The stop signs she was rolling were in a customers complex, where NO ONE stopped. including the customers own trucks. Yeah, no one is watching.....
Every camera company is a bad company.

Somebody else here did exactly that, and it took probably a week for somebody to complain.like clay… +++, kuzima93, Milkman719 and 4 others Thank this. -
Like I was saying in another thread. We human beings have a love affair with surveillance and voyeurism. Movies, reality TV, pornography, news, sports etc...we walk around with a small computer in our hands all day, every day that is both a camera and video device.
We photograph and video everything and post it on YouTube. So to think that no one is observing you on the inward facing camera would be a pretty niaveve way to think.like clay… +++, kuzima93, Geekonthestreet and 5 others Thank this. -
If there was, then the road camera will tell the whole story. Nothing else needs to be involved.
Explain something to us. If these things are the greatest invention since beer as you claim, why then are more and more companies disabling the inside feature, not the least of whom would be Swift?
Simple. Since dash cam videos are discoverable in court, why give anyone anything that could potentially be used against you?
But it’s nice to know the level of confidence you have in your employees, even if it is nonexistent.like clay… +++, ColoradoLinehaul, dunchues and 11 others Thank this. -
I was just writing a essay on these #### things in another thread, and seen this.
Let me assure you, anyone with access to the ELD system can login and watch these camera's anytime! I've known this for along time, but now being on the safety advisory board of a medium size company, I literally have a login/password to access any truck in the fleet in real time. Also these things are recording 24/7/365, we can pull footage going back 6 months no problem. 5 days can be pulled instantly, after that you need to make a request since its already archived.
Inside, Outside, Audio and they can be tired into the ELD's, Eye tracking, The Anti-Collision Systems/Driver Aids etc etc etc. Its the ultimate compliance tool, and that's how companies are using it. Some companies are using it not to pay safety bonus's and just general driver harassment. This is being done to both company drivers and now leased on O/O's.
I'm glad I'm done driving TBH, I'm now in operations, and part of the safety advisory board, to bring some driver perspective to the table. But honestly, the future is not looking good. Somedays I think all they want, is cheap obedient slaves, who will take unlimited abuse and harassment; who never go home.like clay… +++, Geekonthestreet, nredfor88 and 5 others Thank this. -

The trucking industry want robots to drive their trucks.
So until they make one that can do our job they will do their best to turn humans into robots.
When I got back in a truck in 2015 I drove a manual and no nanny cr#p. Now this company has a speed camera that slams on the brakes when it takes a picture of an off ramp sign that says 25mph.
No tickets of any kind since 1992 and one not at fault accident.
Yes the forwarded facing are a great invention but he rest of this stuff is wrong more then it is is right. I don't need a noise to tell me there is a light pole on the side of the road. ( blind spot warning) or a truck on my right while backing into a parking spot.
This is why they are importing all the people from solicialist and communist countries, they do what they are told.
I WILL NOT COMPLY.like clay… +++, kuzima93, Geekonthestreet and 5 others Thank this. -
You sound like one of those Jack Holes in the office who proudly went to college thinking he’d end up in Wall Street or some Fortune 500 company.
But when those better industries won’t have you and you end up at a trucking company instead and you’re bitter and take it out on the drivers because of your own lack of self esteem.ColoradoLinehaul, kuzima93, Geekonthestreet and 6 others Thank this. -
