You might need FRC if doing any oilfield work.

I used to cut corners out of oil jugs to
protect my tarps from plate steel when
    my cardboard corners don't reach.

I use them often on transformers. Like you said, holes to small for a chain.

    cke and EdwinTheGreat218 Thank this.

You would think that something that looked like this could hold on and not need to be chained down. Like the chains would hold him anyhow 290px-AOE_optimus_reformatted.jpg

    Couldn't agree more!
So many machines have holes that are too small for chains or hooks, it always amazed me how most machines are designed without the thought of transporting them.

Thank you everyone for the information. Think I've got a pretty good idea of what'll be needed, not that people should stop replying, but I think with the comprehensive list I've put together with everyone's input, if there's anything that hasn't been listed it'll probably be one of those things that has to be learned along the way. You guys have been very helpful, except for Optimus Prime lol, Decepticons all day

I don't think that's something that'll be coming up for me but I'll probably get a pair of frc coveralls in the next 6 months just so I can have them if I do need them at some point

2 come-a-longs. A hand saw for cutting dunnage. Spare air lines for when you rip the air lines out of the rgn (it's a common ATS thing). Vice grips for an extra hand. Proper wire butt connectors and heat shrink tubing and a torch for the rgn that doesnt have working lights because the driver before you butchered the wiring harness. And a head mounted flash light for when you are trying to wire up a preloaded trailer in the dark.

A good attitude. The guys that do well are the guys that stay positive. They think outside the box. There's ALWAYS a way to get the job done. There's always a Harbor Freight, Home Depot, Fleet and Farm/tractor supply/trailer repair place nearby. These guys that are giving you advice, I bet money that they buy stuff for the job every time they go into a tool place. Flea markets are good too.
When you get your truck, the empty weight will be 30000 lbs. 2 years down the road, the same truck will be 35500. 5000 lbs of extra gear. You see van people talking about buying TVs for the truck and stuff. Dont bother, you wont have time to set up and watch TV. There's always something to do, there's always something that you have to do. Not a bad thing...it's just you becoming more efficient at your craft.

    Luck in battle.
