Hello everyone. I used to run cranes years ago, but I have been in construction for about the past 15 years. Unfortunately the economy has bout killed my work and income. So, i been thinking about gettin back into trucking. My otr experience consists of bringing back horrific truck/cranes from around the states to L.A. mostly though I was runnin and operating cranes in the socal area.
Ive driven some real junk. Had one with a Browning transmission that would get stuck and I would have to crawl under the rig and beat it loose with a hammer. Brought a rig back from Pennsylvania, had leaks everywhere. Got red tagged in Ohio. took bout 10 days to get back to L.A. Crawlin up hills in granny on the shoulder for miles, doin 5mph.
To say I'm apprehensive about gettin back into it is an understatement

Welcome to the forum lifthoist.
Things have really changed since you last drove, and for the most part, to the better. You'll have to look pretty hard to find junk like that on the road today. Safety is key with CSA2010.
Have you thought about going back to school to refresh your CDL or what are your plans? -
I let my cdl lapse quite a few years ago. So, I would be startin out fresh. I been thinking about goin to sage in phoenix and stayin at the casino in Laughlin. No reason I cant have some fun while schoolin. Then maybe hit up schneider for a new start

Sounds like a plan. You can apply with Schneider or anyone else for that matter, at any time and it would be contingent upon you getting your CDL. Prehires will give you peace of mind.
