hello everyone, as the title states, i am an ex-driver (2003 - 2007). I received a felony in 2011, i did read the rules and i can re-obtain my CDL since my felony never required a CMV or any other driving position. I also know i may have to find a small outfit to work for until i can get this felony expunged, can anyone help me?

Good luck. You can get your CDL but nobody will touch you. I don't know how you "catch a felony" but you can forget about driving for a while.

I re-edited my original post, as for the felony, how the hell can i be kicked off the road for another 5 years? I've been off 4 years prior to that incident i indicated. Besides, i refuse to give in to the BS that the u.s. D.O.T. laid down, keeping use felons out of trucking.

The DOT isn't keeping you off the road
your actions keep you off the road
and hiring requirements of companies you apply to
some company will take you somewhere
but don't expect it to be all aboveboard

If you refuse to abide by the rules, then you're SOL. Which probably got you in your current situation. And it's not the DOT that's makes the rules about felonies. That's the companies. It's not their fault that you did wrong. You wanna truck? Keep yourself clean for the next few years. Then you can get back into it. Nobody made you get a felony.

I talked with my son who is in federal prison right now for hauling pot on a tractor trailer over state lines. He too says he will get his cdl after he gets out. I think he too will be untouchable by any reputable company, which puts him right back into the two truck back yard wonders out there, that got him in the penn in the first place. I hate to say it, but I look for more of the same, illegal loads, illegal hours of service, when he got busted he said he had run for over thirty hours at the moment he was pulled over. I have another son right now that is driving from Indiana to California and back with another lunatic, with no CDL at all. Which is nothing new for him, he has already successfully at one time drivin with no drivers license at all, with no problem. Seems like the DOT must overlook the fly by nite companies.

You expect them to give you credit for time you were off the road by your own choice before the felony?

Ya, don't hold your breath waiting for that to happen.

You refuse to respect and obey the law?, I'm sure that will impress them as well

Well...there are "some" ways to receive a felony other than your own fault,I will agree to that.
Ive seen with "me own eyes" of what a crooked so called authority is capable of doing.
BUT it's rare, and btw it's the INSURANCE Co's that are keeping you at bay. Co's have to pay higher fees for felons, therefore a lot won't hire, but some will. I met a guy the other day he had a recent misdemeanor and older felony and was working with an oversize outfit. So it can be done, you're just going to have find them, and then be a good boy or girl for the rest of your natural life.:biggrin_25523:
