Could be, but I also worry about some of the conservative republicans and their hidden intentions as well.
Chicago is no problem with the knife so far, but then again, I do not take it out of my pocket to find out the reaction as I drive through the godless land.

Worrying about conservative republicans right now, over the agenda of the leftist liberals, is like fretting a mosquito bite, when you have cancer.
-
Matter of opinion.
I don't trust either party.AfterShock Thanks this. -
I'll grant you that, neither party turns me on much.
But the agenda of leftist liberal democrats turns me off far far more. They've done much more damage to our freedoms and liberties, than conservative republicans ever dreamed. -
There is a close call on this, but I will say they have barely beat the conservatives on that.
When the conservatives get back in, they will strive to beat their record. Just wait and see. -
Try getting into our court house with it, you'll see differently. Our local journalism teacher went in to renew his plates on his vehicle, emptied his pockets into the bin, of course he's a hunter among other things, and had one of those mulit-tool things on his key ring, so they arrested him. It had a 2 1/2 inch blade in the tool set. OMG, he's going to stab somebody!!! He wrote a nice piece in the newspaper about all of this, and the local PD has practically ran him out of town, because of his views on the subject.
And don't give me the "He should have left it in his vehicle" speech. Who really thinks about leaving their keys in their vehicle??? Its habit to remove them from the ignition and put them in your pocket.
Its just ridiculous anymore. My father had a water softener business. He delivered the salt bags to his customers, and used the knife to open the bags, to fill the softeners. I remember every night when he came home, he'd empty his pockets on his bureau, leaving the knife and all the other contents in plain view of us kids. We never thought anything of it. It was his tool, not a weapon.
These laws are tarnishing good citizens records, and our government could care less. All they want is the money from the court costs and the citations.
kajidono and Winchester Magnum Thank this. -
I have been to a court house or three; around here, they don 't make much fuss, but go to a city, and it's easier to get through pre-flight security. I wouldn't take in any more than identification, even leave the coins in the vehicle. I have a real problem with my shoes, I always have to remove them and have those scanned.
The people guarding the courthouses in urban areas see potential criminals everywhere. -
When I go to the courthouse in my county.
I have to remove:
My Fire/Ems pager.
My Fire/Ems radio.
My cell phone.
My pocket knife.
When I was paged to go to the court house.
I did not remove any of the above.
In addition, I carried scissors that could be seen in the pants strapped to my leg.
Now, these are people that know me.
