So, I believe I am finally deciding on an actual career. I know that with non-cdl work history, companies need at least 3 years of verifiable work history. I have just fairly recently started solidly keeping up with such things, and am not sure on any of the days or even many of the ending months of my employment. I have had 6 jobs in the past 3 years (but only 6 in the past 5 years and some at the same time, in my defense), all but one being part time. Is not knowing the exact start/ending MONTHS on some of them going to be a major problem? I do know the placement of my fairly substantial employment gaps in general, but not the exact months.
I am guessing I am going to have to somehow get them from the companies themselves first. You can get them through social security, but it takes up to 4 months and $136 :/

Recruiter just needs a general idea to help the employer verify when they call. Probably. Or that's what I tell myself because I'm lazy.

I was once told that as a "general un-written rule', we are given about 2 to 4 days of leeway. A month or more? Forgetaboutit.

If I am not mistaken, having exact dates of employment became a requirement due to either legislation or regulations passed by the Department of Homeland Security, after the 911 attacks back in 2001, 3 years for non-driving job employment, 10 years for commercial driving job employment.
However, if you have at a minimal amount of commercial driving employment under your belt, then the company, providing that I am not mistaken, must go back a full 10 years.
Also, if I am not mistaken, prior to the 911 legislation or regulations were passed by the Department of Transportation also required that all unverified unemployment beyond 30 days had to be fully accounted for, as a precaution against someone who may be trying to avoid revealing that he or she may have either been in prison or out on the streets committing crimes.
In someways, unverifiable unemployment can royally screw over good people who were out of work and did not or could not collect unemployment compensation. There are people who have gone into other lines of work without having to fully account for their whereabouts beyond a certain date. Should it really be this much more restrictive for someone who wants to drive a truck for a living if the individual is a decent person?NoBluffBuff Thanks this. -
Were you enrolled in any type of school during this time? That counts to fill in gaps because that is what you were doing.

Hey I am 62 years old not had that many jobs. However, I would have trouble telling you the year I hired on somewhere!

Can't they just run a background and get all that info? I was going to get employment records but it's like $150 and takes up to 6 months to get back. wasn't going to do that to get info on a company I worked for one day at. Company I am with now, is not that picky but it is LTL some maybe that makes a difference.

My work history is a little spotty because I have been self employed and than took some time off to take care my dad and remodel my house. i am going to apply for a TWIC card that way if a company has any doubt I am already cleared by the government.
