I suspect you're right. The pavement between 1604 and 725 has been awful since I was in high school - and I'm in my early 40s now.

The lengend of that name is from the Texas revolution Era. A flood on that creek through their property carried away a settler womans husband and children and were never found. When the wind blows on stormy nights you can still hear the woman hollering for them.

Land is unstable in this area. I10 is a dividing line. North side of hwy is black gumbo clay south side is sandy loam. Hard to build on it. The ground moves a lot. Guadalupe river valley area can go from extremely dry to swampy wet in minutes.

 

Have no idea. I only know the history of my area. Maybe a native from that area will chime in.

Seems like a lot of you guys are from Texas. I live in between San Antonio and Floresville.

 

That happens often in Alberta Canada and bc . Many fly by night outfits have no yard so they use the truck stop . Many send their wives to truck stop and hold a spot for them .

 

Not sure how I feel about that. I'm a pretty big fan of husband and wife teamwork. Wife out there trying to make life just a little easier for her trucker husband.
