I am trying to find some exercises that I can do while the truck is rolling. I am a team driver and I was trying to walk as much as I could but we hardly have time to stop for fuel and to switch out let alone time for me to exercise the way I should. I am 130lbs and 5'2" although I am still in relatively good shape I know if I don't start exercising again soon I won't be. Any advice you all could give me?

I'm assuming you have a highrise bunk. If so, you can get a mini-stepper to use while the truck is rolling. Or you can get a balance ball, and try to keep balance while the truck is rolling. Also, you can do many bodyweight type of exercises. If you can, check out a few DVDs from P90X and see what you can incorporate into your training in the truck.

Thank you for the advice. I do have a high rise so the stepper will help. I also have resistance bands that I use while I'm driving. My major area I am trying to work on is the belly and love handles :biggrin_2557: It seems like after my kids were born it is impossible to get rid of. And of course sitting all day does not help. I bought a DVD that has like hip hop dance steps that I can do in the truck(No you are not allowed to laugh at that!) LOL....It actually helps tone the belly a little but it is kind of hard to do in the limited space

I wouldn't laugh at that at all. My truck rocks rather violently when I'm using my stepper. Or when I do some of the warm up moves from when I used to do Brazilian Jui Jitsu. If it's something you like, and will keep doing, then it's something good. As for the post-baby body, it will take a real dedication to your nutrition, as well as a good amount of cardio, to lose those areas. If you stick to it, you'll get rid of them. It just takes time and determination.

    Wake up!!

This is not the time to sit on your fanny...
Do not use winter time as an excuse to not excercise...and to remind all you recruites...
The following reasons are why excercising is good on your body...now here this!

    1. Excercise increases protective cholesterol in your blood..

    2. It decreases fatigue...

    3. Combats depression, reduces blood sugar levels and insulin resistance..

    4. Increases brain function, builds immunity, builds stronger bones and reduces body fat...

Now drop and give me 50...failure is not an option!!

I'm not on the road yet - but since my husband and I are going to be teaming it I've given this some thought... we also have some dietary concerns because we both had gastric bypass. We basically eat diabetic type foods. What we are planning on is visiting the local WalMarts (big parking areas - LOL) and having sliced lunch meats and cheeses (roll them up w/lettuce and you have a sandwich with no bread) - plain greek yogurts w/SF jelly mixed in. Cans of soup that are low sodium and not the ones w/noodles and rice (there are a few) peanut butter and celery. When we do stop at T/S and if we eat there - we do a protein based meal... don't have the potato/bread/pasta options. Salads w/dressing on the side. It will be a challenge - but I think it will be do able!!

My brother's been an OTR truck driver for almost ten years. Today, he calls me and says, I want to eat healthier. Any advice would be great. Otherwise, I'm on my own here.

    Thanks,
    JME80

Tell him to pick up a copy of The 4 Hour Body, and to read everything in it regarding the slow carb diet.
