    If u want to check around exhaust manifold and gaskets when the engine is cold like I. The morning make sure u spray it with soap and water and just check for bubbles

    I have problems also with fumes, they can't find the leak;i replaced flex pipe again , new manifold;
    I was thinking to rent one of this infrared Flir http://www.flir.com/homedepot/ and check myself; with this new emission exhaust backpressure they should have one of this in every shop; but are expensive.

    Yeah I kept telling people these diesel exhaust rear gen systems are not tried and tested. And they're not necessary. I don't care what anybody says you cannot get rid of carbon. It's a base element. The very fact that truck drivers (who should know more about carbon than anybody except train or ship operators), have been duped into believing that carbon particles can be (eliminated), shows lack of education in the table of elements. Carbon is the base molecule for all things. You can crush it smaller , but like a diamond, you will still have carbon. All of these systems. All of this money. All of this maintenance cost was unnecessary. And it's still going on. Diesel itself was cleaned. The sulfur dioxins and poisons that existed in diesel are gone. Trying to remove carbon is simply because people see it in the smoke. But the carbon molecule in the atmosphere will settle on the ground and once again become part of the Earth. Breathing it is very unlikely previous natural state of the diesel engine. But breathing it now in it's condensed forms inside of the truck will kill you. One of the first things that happened at the company I'm working for is that I drove a truck with a diesel exhaust leak for a few weeks without knowing it and by the time it built up in my system I almost died on 287. I started tasting it along the side of my tongue and realized that snakes flying through the air is not a natural occurrence. Like the man earlier said the flex pipe had busted and simultaneously two exhaust manifold gaskets were leaking, all working their way through the fresh air intake. My boss told me to drive the truck for a couple more days and he would fix it but during that couple more days I covered another 1,500 miles or more. By the time I was back in Colorado again I was sick and hallucinating again. After fixing the truck and giving it back to me a week or two later, the same flex pipe although new was still leaking. I went through the same exact thing all the way to Missouri and of course my tolerance to the exhaust fumes by this time was not what it was the first time and the second time I ended up in the hospital. If I didn't like the guy I would probably have him in court. Now, thinking back I probably should have went to court anyway.
    I have two years to file a complaint. But what good would it do without evidence of carbon monoxide in the blood? You better get a tester and keep it in your truck. Keep it up to date the little yellow ones that clip onto your belt from the oil filter probably your best bet I don't know. The windmill farms also have sniffers for carbon monoxide but the battery doesn't last as long as they're a heavier unit. Put it close to the floor because carbon monoxide builds from the floor up. Happy New Year
