I heard this term on here. Exit Interviews. What good are they? Your last day at a company and now they finally want to hear your suggestions and grievances. Why bother?

Lol, "I'm leaving because I found a better job, you guys suck, and if you can't figure out why you suck, that's your problem not mine"
Swedish Chef, gentleroger, dunchues and 17 others Thank this. -
They are used in the weird world of corporations to allow them to improve themselves but most of the time it is to waste time.
stwik, Justrucking2, Trucking in Tennessee and 9 others Thank this. -
Well, golly gee, maybe that has something to do with it. -
Imagine being the person who gives these interviews listening to ex-employees basically vent and go off before leaving. Sounds really fun.

I’m like “I’m tired of the pay raises. I’m tired of the comradarie and positive working environment, I tired of the benefits, the well maintained equipment, the short work days and the respect I get.” Always leaves them perplexed.
Blackshack46, AfterShock, SidewaysBentHalo and 13 others Thank this. -
I've only had two of them, and I give them the "It's not you, it's me"...
Both times I needed the reference.
But Coover said what I really wanted to say....IluvCATS Thanks this. -
Back when I did exit interviews it was't about listening to grievances, it was about finalizing your departure. Getting the paperwork finished to continue health coverages until the new employer's coverage kicked in,recovering keys and gate openers, and final inspection of equipment. All of the boring details that no one really thinks about until the last day.
tinytim, gentleroger, Odin's Rabid Dog and 2 others Thank this. -
I just tell them straight up the pay is cheap, I can't work for that. I always take a week or two weeks home time before I tell them I quit, I use that time to start working at the new company to check it out, if I like it I mail the Qualcomm to the old company UPS of FedEx and the day its showing for delivery I call the company and tell them I quit and your Qualcomm in the mail.
