Getting ready to sign on with a small local outfit that will have me home every night.
They are telling me that physical and drug screen will be at my expense.
The cost will be deducted from my payroll. This is the procedure to all employees who have been with them 6 months or less.
    Is this the norm ?
    What are your opinions ?

It is not a big deal, just a question from someone new to the industry.
    Thanks for your response.

You can also claim the cost of those items on your taxes next year, so keep the receipts.

What's the big deal? Are you kidding me? Since when does a company start expecting a driver to pay for those services? The company has looked over your application and has decided to hire you over all of the others. You obviously stuck out in their minds and they wanted you. Now they want you to pay? Wrong! If they are a good company, they will pay for those services.

This sends up a huge red flag. This company does not sound like a company I would be willing to invest my time in. Niether should anyone else. Something is wrong here.
