I was close to signing a 4 year trailer lease purchase contract - until I read it. The contract basically stated that if I defaulted for any reason I would be liable for the balance due on the $52,000 debt for the $33,000 trailer. During the negotiation I had asked what would happen if I returned the trailer before the full 4 year term of the contract and was told it was no problem and all that would happen is I'd lose my equity and escrow. So I called and asked about this and was told once again that in 5 years they had always received a returned trailer without any further action. I said OK, please put that in writing. Was told basically no way, take it or leave it but they would/could not change the contract or add an addendum to it, like the one they added to collect their insurance and escrow. Interesting how these companies can always accomplish something that benefits them! Should I take their word for it??? :biggrin_25512:

I've heard of many, many drivers who got into tractor fleece purchase programs and lost everything. When they returned the truck they were sued for the contract balance while the companies resell the trucks and go merrily on their way. I've never heard of it with trailers but it looks like the same principals apply.

Anyone have experience with a trailer deal like this? Love to hear about it......

Hale wants $2400 a month plus 6 cents a mile for a double drop - way too much for me.

Thanks for the feedback, but the point of the thread is to see what experiences others may have had with a similar deal.
