Sorry about the layoff. That's one of downsides in the ltl world. Lots of stumbling blocks until you get lots of seniority.

Reason for the layoffs is not because of freight drop, but because if they show all the lenders they borrowed money from that they are making profit, they get a lower interest rate

thats pretty ridiculous, but a fine example of "big company" BS for you. I've talked to drivers with some of the other big LTL's...FedEx, Saia, Estes, etc, and yeah, top and starting wages are higher but they like to dicker on OT and put the screws to the drivers in all sorts of unfunny ways. Most of the large LTLs are publicly traded companies so of course it's all about the bottom line and shareholder profit.

Face it, it IS ALWAYS ABOUT THE BOTTOM LINE! Publicly traded company or not, every one of these companies is in this for the same reason WE are. MAKING MONEY.

Well might be going back sometime next week. They are wanting to send things out to cartidge but the stewards wont allow it... So they will have to bring me back first at least... the bottom guys arent in the union yet so they can get away with cartidge being sent out. I hope they take them back as well

They start out at around $20 with overtime after 40. Seniority lets you pick your start time. One thing I liked about them is the drivers don't usually touch the freight while at the yard, they hire dock people. They are good to work for as long as you do your job (according to current drivers).... no doubles just 48' and 53' trailers. I haven't worked for them just went through the hiring process, hope this little bit of info helps.
