Hey, I'm not bashing on YRC cause I hate them. My dad retired from Big R, I drive for Big R from 02 to 05. Good company before Yellow messed up the whole deal.

But last I checked YRC was running a 1.05. So I ask, where's the profit?

YRC is just like anyone else. They say one thing and another is really going on behind closed doors. Writing it down, showing graphs or posting it doesn't mean a thing to me. If they are in business they are making money somewhere, some how. Didn't they post a profit last quarter or something?

YRC is making a profit. Charts graphs and everything is just a hoax. Of course they are claiming they aren't making a profit, the company takes back 15% of all employees pay checks so of course they will want that. That's why they won't tell at h for sitting and milking the click. The more money you make the more money they get to take out of your check.

YRC is a very good job, but like cool35 said I'm not waiting for years for a bid if I can find something different and better

Well, this is a pretty good gig for a rookie like me I think, considering all the horror stories I read on here from some of the wicked companies some of the guys on here have to start with. Anyway, I think YRC Freight will/is getting their act together. If they don't, I'll just go work somewhere else, right?

Then you better call the FCC! Because you are claiming they are lying to the shareholders, which is a federal crime!

Ok, go down with the ship then. Keep telling yourself what ever will get you thru the day.

    Open your eyes. Sheesh!

    Crazy37,
When I worked for Yellow in 2007 they said they weren't making money then either. We all know they were. YRC like other union companies are trying to get rid of the unions. They always post a loss at some time. Yes YRC is not in good shape but they aren't hurting as bad as they want you to believe. I know they are hiding money somewhere. That's what all companies do when they are in trouble, well big companies anyway. Or they just route their freight through a non union sister company like CF did with Conway. I know for a fact that the teamsters days are numbered here. They are killing union all around the country in many different fields. Look at the city workers. The cities say they are broke! Give me a brake! Where do all our tax dollars go? Well I mean besides the pockets of central banks. Some has to go to city and state. I've been around long enough and i know the game. Liars, all of them! Just their way of getting workers to say "please take my benefits, pension and give me another pay cut so I can keep the company a float" Since when is it the employees duty to keep the company in business. I bet if the employees stood their ground and didn't budge on all those cuts, they would still have a job and their pension. If not then let them sink!

As far as the people working at YRC, my self included, it isn't a bad job. There is plenty of freight right now and yes there are ups and downs like there are at any other company. However, YRC is good for young guys who don't wanna be stuck out on the road 3 or more weeks at a time. Any LTL company is better. I myself enjoy the road but I am older now. I didn't want to be away from home when I was young, single and in party mode. Like Sqounk said, there are many horrible OTR companies out there and YRC isn't one of them. I would have loved to work at YRC when I started out. Actually when I started it was still Yellow, Roadway, etc. Another thing Squonk said is he will just go somewhere else if it doesn't work out. In the mean time he is getting experience and can move on to hopefully another LTL should he have to. Same with ACH.

Out here on the west coast I believe any lay offs will be at the union shops first and freight will be routed through Reddaway. That's what I heard about last winter. There are only 3 Reddaway yards that are union. The rest are non union. Just a gut feeling on that one, not for sure. When I worked at Yellow in 2007 and it started slowing down and we thought they were getting ready to "CF" us. Haha that was the saying around there. There were a lot of CF guys that went to Yellow and Roadway.
Ah whatever, what do I know? I'm just a trucker. Good luck to us all.
