Boy, your not lying about Cali. I had a friend who transferred out there (RV Salesman) who thought he was getting a good promotion, until he found out the high cost of living out there. Yikes! The cost of living is way lower here. When we are busy & I'm bringing home $1200.00 a week, that's pretty darn good for around here. Out there that's probably just decent to ok. When we're slow & I'm bringing home around $700.00, that is plenty to live on, with a (small)cushion. I'm surprised they don't give you guys a little more per mile to compensate. Some companies do that. When I was with FedEx Express, I fiddled with the idea of transferring to Alaska & they said they pay a little more there to help offset the high cost of living there (gallon of milk there is 6 bucks I was told).

I know they should do that but they don't in trucking. There are jobs out here paying as low as 26 cpm! Your lucky to find a trucking job making 1500 a week which I consider a decent wage. My rent alone is 2200 a month! That's about the going rent where I live unless you want to live in a slum or move to the hood. State tax, sales tax at 7.75% and cheapest gas I've seen is 3.99 a gal! It's a joke out here! Also if you buy good organic milk it costs 6.59 a gal in Cali. I've seen the regular stuff for 3.39 a gal but since I started drinking the organic stuff, I can't stand the taste of the regular milk anymore. Luckily I barely use milk. They say you pay for beautiful women, weather, and you have everything out here. Mountains, beaches, lakes, rivers. Don't know many places you can drive 1 to 2 hours and go skiing or surfing. Of course most of us never do cause we can't afford it! There are a lot of scum bags living here. The illegals are probably the real reason our pay has taken such a hit. When my daughter graduates high school, my wife and I are outta here!

3.99 a gallon!!!? It's 4.31 where I live! Every girl in my town thinks they are better then everyone because of their mommy and daddy's money. Every kid in High school had either bmws, Mercedes, etc, my best friend had a 85 mustang and I had a blue dodge ram which was the cheapest thing on the market(2 door 2wd V6 6spd) was glad to get rid of that one for the black one shown below. This is also why I'm talking with a girl from Turkey, any girl outside the US is a LOT friendlier.

Well Cool35 you seem to be making less then me. I took home 731 this week after taxes for 51 hours. I wouldnt mind living in California because there are tons of car restorer jobs, performance etc. can't really do that for a living where I am in NY

Squonk how much are you paid by the mile. My friend who does line haul is making the same money you are out of the Maybrook terminal(Newburgh) he told me w
hes going from Sceanton Pa, to Maine. His favorite us the maybrook to Harrisburg since he can do it in 8 hours and go home

As for us we got a new steward election coming up. Now you all knew my problems with the asst at the time but that was patched up. The steward wants to make him full steward and elect an asst. I'm fine with that. Two guys who have a grudge made a petition so they can vote him in. I always refused to sign it even though they told me oh we are still voting him in we just want to vote. Well yesterday I'm with the asst, the night switcher and another driver and the asst made a comment on who to vote for. I asked I though you were just getting in and he said so did I, and the other driver said the two running the petition want to run for the positions. Now I know why they wanted me to sign it so badly. These guys are mad about something do stupid it is just like get over it, you $$$$$$$$$ up. Bunch of over grown cry baby's we have here lol

I know what you mean about the girls thinking they are better than everyone else. Especially now a days they are just looking for a guy with money. I know the east coast is really expensive too. More so than California. I could never live there, I hate the snow. You have to pay to drive on the roads for crying out loud. I do prefer California over a lot of places. The weather is perfect almost year round. There is no place in the country with such mild weather. I will probably move down to one of the southern states in about 5 years or so. Cheaper to live, a lot less people, etc. Texas is big on restoring cars too. That state is booming right now. Don't think I'd wanna live there but they seem to have their own economy. A lot of companies from Cali are going there since Cali likes to tax them out of business. The girls are a lot easier to talk to in other states. Heck every state has there good and bad places and I've met great people everywhere. Just some areas people, not just women, think they are better than everyone else. I can't stand the yuppie attitude where I live.

As far as me making less money, that's just my luck. I've come to expect it lol.
